Title: Feb/Mar Art Compo - THE RESULTS
Post by: Jim_Campbell on 23 March, 2008, 10:12:51 AM
Another fine, fine bunch of fantastically diverse entries from you talented bunch of fuckers.

In the end though, there can be only one, even though you don't have to chop anyone's head off to achieve it.

In third place, inching out ahead of a tight pack for this position:

In an Art Compo first, there's a dead heat for second:

... But the clear winner this month is the gorgeous, pouting, Queen Firey-Bou!

Take a bow, QFB, and bask in the adulation of the board. If you would be kind enough to come up with a new subject in your own time, we might as well kick off the new compo next weekend ...

Once again, many, many thanks for all the fine entries here.

Cheers!

Jim

And finally ...

Runaway winner in the honourable mention category (and recipient of a significant number of "proper votes" too) was:

Bad Andy.

Much deserved winner there, it's a fabulous pic, Bou. Proper arty!

Thought there was a great response to the comp, and I know my final choices felt pretty random as it was almost impossible to choose amongst them.

Thanks to Jim for organising it, looking forward to the next one.

If there is a joint second there can't be a third - I demand a recount and yes I didn't get any chocco eggs! Well done to all concerned and to a worthy winner, which I picked despite not knowing what is good, only what I like.

"If there is a joint second there can't be a third"

I wondered if anyone would point this out. I decided to be nice, in honour of Zombie Jesus Weekend.

I have given some thoughts to tie-breaks, though. I can't decide between awarding the winner in a tie to the entrant with the most number of actual votes (ie - more people selected them as either one, two or three) or the entrant with the highest average score per vote (ie - more people rated them highly).

In other words, in a tie, hypothetically, should a win be awarded to the entrant who was ranked 3rd by 21 people, or the one who was ranked 1st by 7 people?

Cheers!

Jim

It's academic really but I'd swing for most top place picks - I think that's what they do on Eurovision!

Congrats to Bou!

Well done to everyone else.

Cheers Jim for organising it.

And many thank yous to those who voted for me and the kind words. I'm well chuffed for (joint) second place.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to the next comp.

Who needs readers art in 2k when we've got this board.

Well done Bou - even more impressive that you did two entries and still romped home.

I suspect Larf split his vote with the two entries too, enabling Supersurfer and me to sneak under the radar!

first go at this kind of thing, but I'll certainly be back for more time willing.

"I suspect Larf split his vote with the two entries too, enabling Supersurfer and me to sneak under the radar!"

:-)

Thought never really occurred to me - just pleased people voted and liked what I did - really pleased Bou won though, really liked that pic - kinda made me cry (in a male kinda way)...

What? I didn't even realise the voting was going on.
Fortunately I would have voted for the eventual winner anyway.

Thanks for those who voted for my effort, even though they are not supposed to be proper entries!

"What? I didn't even realise the voting was going on."

Even after I took that ad out in your local paper, and everything?

Sorry!

Hmmm, right on the hope.
