Gah, sorry about that folks! Wish there was a preview option on messages.

As I was saying- this image is a bit of a cheat as it's five years old. But I don't get to draw giant robots very often, and I've got alien jellyfish to do right now.

I see JEB's still as sickeningly genius as usual :)

I'll be there as usual with the bf in tow. Plans currently are to drive down on Friday in a Morris Minor with another comic creator chum- possibly foolhardy but guaranteed to generate interesting stories to tell for years to come.

I'm hoping I won't have any problems with taking the Friday off from the day job- we've got a new headteacher and I've no idea what's she's going to be like in regards to this.

I won't be flogging anything but I should hopefully have pages from current projects in my portfolio if anyone fancies a gander.

A page like this takes me about three days(give or take) to pencil and ink, bearing in mind that I still have a day job to go to, so I only get evenings and weekends to do art. I have to admit my slowness bothers me a fair amount- I certainly couldn't take on a monthly book at this point in time.

If I could give people virtual sex I'd make a mint!

I would have more hats but I have a freakishly large head and it's difficult for me to get any that fit.

Ergh, I wouldn't let a permanent marker anywhere near my artwork. It fades quite badly, as PJ has already mentioned. The chemicals used in marker pens are quite different to the inks used with brushes.

One question : On the blacked in areas of the picture ,has the artist used Marker pen or is it an Ink Wash ?

It's brush and ink. I've yet to come across any black ink that's completely opaque, though obviously some are better than others in that regard. Generally when you see finished artwork in black and white from an artist it will have been adjusted to make the blacks opaque and/or scanned in as a bitmap image.

One of the reviews of Devilchild 1 we had all those years ago insisted that I'd obviously spotted all my blacks with a marker pen. This wasn't the case at all- I was simply using a lesser quality black ink (before I discovered Higgins Black Magic) and had scanned all the artwork in as grayscale, and I didn't know about adjusting the blacks, so the printed artwork in the book looked washed out and 'scrubby'. It was just newbie ignorance rather than *shudder* overenthusiastic use of a permanent marker.

Heheh, there's a few 2000ad artists and writers on my friends list on Comicspace.
I also need to get round to updating my own profile on there- been a bit lazy, I'm afraid.

Believe me, I phoned my family in Gloucestershire to check they were ok before I posted this.
It's been kind of wierd seeing Gloucester under as much water as it is - I used to live there many years ago and I recognised many of the places they were showing on the news. That place hasn't had this much news coverage since Fred West was caught, though I'm not surprised it's ended up like this, the area just outside of the city floods every Spring.
