I assumed the same, that the "panel" shown was a crop of next week's cover art. I guess we'll know soon enough, once next week's cover is uploaded.

I think Madonna improved with age, but like a fine wine left too long, she's well past her best now.

:: Do you still have Stront and button man?

Yes, I doâ??on the shelf behind me, in fact. No emails have come through from you, oddly, and I regularly check my junk mail, in case something's gone astray. Anyway, a cheque payable to "Craig Grannell" would be lovely, and send it to the address on the Snub Communications website. I'd appreciate it if you could drop me a line (or reply here) when you do. Ta.

Sorry about the mix-up - check your email. It would have been odd, though, me giving a one quid discount to send via second class! :)

Not yet. They're sitting on the chair next to me, in fact...

Having just weighed them (how's that for story-based posting?), they come in at about 3.5kg, and so Standard Parcels would be the best way to send them, which costs £7.70. If you want them, you know what to do!

I'm a lazy, lazy man when it comes to offloading stuff, and I hate eBay. Therefore, I figured I'd offer some spares/stuff I want rid of on here for a couple of days before I fling it all on eBay. If the sendmail of this site's down, just email me via Snub Communications, saying what you want. Prices don't include postage, obviously. I'll post anywhere, but be mindful that sending overseas (I'm in the UK) might be pricey for some items.

BOOKS
Bad Company (Jock cover version) - £5
Strontium Dog: The Early Cases - £4
Button Man: The Killing Game (hardback) (small ding at top of spine - otherwise fine) - £5
Sandman vols 1-3 (Preludes and Nocturnes, The Doll's House, Dream Country) - £10 for all three (includes slip case, although that's not in good nick, unlike the books, which are fine)
Death (Sandman): The High Cost of Living - £4
Usagi Yojimbo, book 2: £5
Judge Dredd Case Files 01 - £7
Sinister Dexter: Murder 101 - £5
Rogue Trooper: Realpolitik - £6
Dark Knight Returns (three-issue cardback series) - £5
Return to Amalgam Age of Comics - Marvel and DC collections - £4 for both

COMICS (£1 each, unless stated)
Complete Judge Dredd 1-31 (includes Dredd badge with #9) - £10

Jon said both the latest Dredd and Sláine books were with him last week, so I imagine they'll be with shops shortly.

This strip once again makes me wonder why MC-1 apparently has a policy that lets female judges avoid wearing helmets. MC-1 safety people: this makes it easier to shoot your judges in the head!

Well, the important thing is profit, and 2000 AD, apparently, remains profitable. A magazine I write for has a circulation much lower than 2000 AD's, and yet the management is happy for it to continue, because it makes money. At the other end of the scale, some national newspapers sell many hundreds and thousands of copies, yet make a loss.

:: 20,000 again, the figure that will not die

I imagine it's guesswork anyway. I remember going to a Dreddcon in Nottingham, and chatting to Dom about various 2000 AD stuff. At that time, the readership was around 30,000, with 3,000 subs (although I don't know if that 3,000 was part of the 30 or in addition to it). When I met up with Jon, Keith and Simon at the start of last year, I got the impression that this figure had dipped, but not significantly.

What's most annoying, however, is that this figure isn't in context. The articles seem to read like there's been a steady, fairly sharp decline from then to now, when in fact Rebellion seemed to somehow level-off the readership drop, keeping 2000 AD going at a steady rate. (If this wasn't the case, I'm sure it'd be way more expensive by now.) Also, readership for ALL magazines has dropped since the 1980s, not just for comics.

Still, with the way the Prog's been going of late, there's not really been a much better time to be reading. The line-up's been great, the production values high, and the trade line continues to get better and better. By the end of the year, we'll have pretty complete collections of Rogue, Stronty Dog and Nemesis, along with at least eight chunky Dredd volumes. Not bad for a comic that everyone (including the previous publishers) thought would be dead and buried years ago.

So: here's to the past 30 years, and Rebellion's hard work in ensuring that there'll be more years to come!

I agree with the fish. The Prog this week felt somewhat like one of the annuals of old, with all of the pros and cons that came with them. As for the Abaddon sampler, I've so many now that I'm considering using them to build an extension to our house.
