Just read a short story by Kim Newman called Teddy Bears picnic, about an alternate timeline in which the US is Soviet and Russia is capatalist. The story has the Likely Lads and charachters from Kes and On the Buses in the Vietnam war, and is much better than that sounds.
I personally think Newman does this kind of thing much better than Alan Moore in the LOEG and I'ld reccommend his (cringe) Meta-narratives to fans of that sort of thing.
