This sounds interesting.  Big fan of the original movie starring Edward Fox.  Redmayne should be good in the role.

Thanks!

The FF's aren't 1st editions (although I think there might be one in there) - but they are the first versions published (no zig-zag line along the top, star-burst number on the front cover, etc.).

Interestingly, my edition of Warlock has a purple spine - as it was printed in Australia (where I live).

The dice - I sourced from AliExpress for a handful of dollars.

Thought I might make a small contribution to the thread.

My daughter is 2 - going on 3, so I figured I'd track down some game-books for when she gets older (I'm 51 and enjoyed them as a kid).  Yeah, an old Dad!

Thought I'd start with a gateway drug and track down the first 10 CYOA titles - all vintage.  Some very spooky-style illustrations by Paul Granger.  Should get her on the right path...

Once she's had her fill of CYOA - she can graduate to the first 5 of the Fighting Fantasy books - again all early editions.  Even obtained some nice fantasy-style D6's to pair with the books.

That should keep her out of trouble - and I can relive my youth at the same time.

At work here in Oz (1:25am).  Have just yelled out to my work colleagues..."Holy f$&k!  Warney's gone!"  And only a day after Rod Marsh died.

Always considered that I grew up watching Warney bowl - but he was only a year older than me.

Sad day.

I find TBOBF all the more interesting now, knowing that Matt Berry is involved.

If the writers don't get a 'yes I can hear you' in there somewhere, I'll be sorely disappointed.

Having hit 50 this year, my body (which up to this point has been in good nick) is starting to 'grumble' with regard to my food choices/lack of exercise.

Won't take up too much time here, as everyone is different.  However, this might assist...

I've got my weight down from around 82kgs to 75kgs in the past two months - simply from cutting out refined sugars, refined carbs and animal fat.  That simple.  And making smart food choices.  Yoghurt laced with sugar?  Nope, now 100% greek yoghurt with a drizzling of real maple syrup (which in moderate amounts is healthy for you).  I don't touch anything that's 'white' either - no milk, no white bread, no white potatoes, no white rice.  Have replaced them with sweet potato and brown rice.  I don't have a yearning for milk or bread at all.  The exception is greek yoghurt, which is packed with good stuff.

Have also tried to incorporate a bit more fruit into my diet.

I'm a police officer - and yes the police diet (ala 'The Simpsons') is a real thing.  A combination of shift-work, sitting in vehicles or in front of a computer - and easy access to crap fast food.  It's worn me down in the past year or two.

In relation to exercise (very important once you hit the half century) - three exercises ONLY.  Pull-ups/Chin-ups, Squats and Push-ups.  That's it.  I follow an exercise bloke on YT who recommended these 3 exercises, with the motto, 'little and often'.  Essentially, I'll walk out to my carport and do 4 pull-ups, 20 squats and perhaps 6 push-ups - about four times a day.  Each work-out takes about 5 minutes.  So 20 minutes total a day.  Even made a custom pull-up bar out of galvanised pipe.

Oh, I forgot to mention - the above workout only has to be done every alternate day - which provides for a recovery day.  20 minutes workout every 48 hours isn't too bad!

I have a 22-month old toddler - and I have no time for visiting the gym or lengthy workouts.  I can pop outside, hang the laundry out - and get a quick 5 minute work-out under my belt.

Seeing some good results from following the above.  Good luck to all.

A bit late to the party, but...

Skyrim on a Switch Lite.

Gotta laugh when I compare it to my orange clam-shell Nintendo 'Donkey Kong' LCD game from the early 80's (which I still have).

Just an amazing experience to play this game on a handheld - and it's the Special Edition with all the bells and whistles.  A lot different to the vanilla version I played on PC back in...what?...2011?  Great stuff.

Sad to hear about Jeremy Bulloch.  I obtained his autograph some years ago - and he wrote a very nice note about Ashes Cricket (I'm in Australia).

Here's the status of my autograph collection - most of which are personalised.  Very sad to think how many legends have passed in recent times.

"but do we know canonically how much time passes over the course of the original trilogy?"

Canonically - nope.

I think the general consensus* is about 3 years between ANH and ESB...and about a year between ESB and ROTJ.  You're certainly right about Luke - much more composed and 'with it' when he takes on Jabba in ROTJ, etc.

* The general consensus being greatly influenced by the Expanded Universe and all of its shenanigans.

(Apologies if the following has been raised earlier...)

The emergence of Grogu also plays nicely into the exchange between Ben and Yoda in ESB...

Ben: "That boy is our last hope"
Yoda:  "No...there is another."

Yoda would have had knowledge of Grogu's initial training on Coruscant - and perhaps he assisted with Grogu's escape during The Purge?

Yes, yes - no doubt Yoda was referring to Leia. ;)  But it makes for a nice 'what if...'.

In relation to playing Star Wars Squadrons in VR...are you playing on a plain ol' PS4 or a Pro?

There's a touch of 'se7en' in that trailer - which is no bad thing.

I'm about 60% through Assassin's Creed 1 on the PC (see details of my AC marathon on the previous page of this thread).  It's a strange beast - the visuals are incredible for something 13 years old - and yet - it feels so empty.

I'll give it some leeway for it's age - but the various missions are all rather boring and predictable (and they vary little from city to city).  The controls are also somewhat difficult on a PC.

In any event, I'll persevere so that I can make the switch to AC2 on the PS4 - it's the 'Ezio Collection' that includes all the DLC and add-ons (Brotherhood, Revelations, etc.) - and has been 'enhanced' for the PS4.

Enjoy The Witcher 3 - I've played a bit of it on the PS4, and barely scratched the surface!
