It's always interesting reading to see what stories people are interested in on the ComicScene website - it gives you a good idea what 2000AD, Treasury of British Comics and UK comics are of interest to you.  Check out the Top 20 stories you were reading this month in the ComicScene Monthly Newsletter.  You might see a story you missed!  https://mailchi.mp/e04b5a3ce620/your-top-20-comic-stories-for-september-on-comicsceneorg

Books & Comics / Catch up with the History of Comics
28 September, 2021, 08:42:52 AM
TWO WEEKS TO PLEDGE FOR HISTORY OF COMICS
14 days to go and we are 90% towards the final goal for the History of Comics kickstarter.  Plenty of 2000AD coverage over the books from 1977 onwards!
If you haven't already please make your pledge now and share.  You can get the four new books with optional slipcase or catch up with all twelve books in the series.
We are also donating 25 History of Comics books to public and school libraries and we'd love to send more!  Remember you can 'add on' your donation as well as get other ComicScene publications you may have missed.
If the books aren't for you please do donate a book to a library anyway.  We will send you a free digital History of Comics to say thank you or if you donate four books you get access to all the current books in digital.  We'd love to donate at least 100 books and share our love for comics so any help appreciated.
Thanks again for all your support.  Pledge here

Books & Comics / Have you picked up Brawler yet?
20 September, 2021, 04:32:37 PM
The 'Brawler Special' is the first UK comic with material funded from kickstarters (Brawler 1&2 and ComicScene Annual 2021).
There is a new story and features in there too. £6.99 for 11 complete stories.
You can pick it up in WHSmith (probably close to 2000AD and the Megazine) or order it from your local newsagent. If your struggle to find it order online https://theshift.store/products/shift-presents-brawler

Books & Comics / Re: Shift Comic - new UK anthology
07 October, 2020, 12:55:22 PM
ComicScene did run strips (Rok of the Reds, Captain Cosmic, Lady Flintlock, Milford Green. Whackoman! to name a few) but was mainly features.  We have eight pages in Shift! which mainly cover new and indie comics.
People seem to want strips and retro articles separate, which is why we are launching the History of Comics Books.  Interviews include John Wagner on anything but Dredd and Ian Gibson on Halo Jones.  https://comicscene.org/subscribe-to-the-history-of-comics/
We have also launched the 116 page hardback Annual for Christmas which you can order in print or digital now - the cover inspiration from a certain publication you may know! https://comicscene.org/2020/09/30/buy-your-comicscene-annual-here-now-even-bigger-at-116-pages/

Books & Comics / Re: Shift Comic - new UK anthology
03 October, 2020, 05:50:48 PM
The first issue of Shift will be 108 pages with a ComicScene section in it.  It's published by Comic Toolbox.
It will be on sale in WHSmith, Martin/McColls and Easons and is likely to be in Barnes and Noble in US, Indigo/Chapters in Canada and Australia.  You will be able to order it at your local store as well.
You can get the new 'History of Comics' Partwork (first 4 volumes covering 1984, 1977, 1950 & 1986) and Shift together for less than the cover price at https://comicscene.org/subscribe-to-the-history-of-comics/ or at https://getmycomics.com/Release/Indie
ComicScene also doing a hardback annual this year too https://comicscene.org/2020/09/30/buy-your-comicscene-annual-here-now-even-bigger-at-116-pages/
The current issue of ComicScene Magazine (featuring Dan Dare in 2000AD) will be the last and you can get it in WHSmith and McColls now with more info about Shift in it.
With 2000AD and Megazine doing well and these titles launching in October/November things are looking a little healthier for comics.  Hope that helps.

Books & Comics / ComicScene Sale
03 July, 2019, 11:10:21 AM
ComicScene has a half price summer sale on - you can get digital back issues for £1.50 and print issues for £3.
www.getmycomics.com/comicscene
Catch up with ComicScene, complete your collection and subscribe!  It's a great time to jump on board, with the current issue 5 (the Summer Special!)
For a small investment you are helping us continue the magazine and spread the word to other dedicated comic fans and potential new comic readers.
Feedback from our newsstand readers is they are discovering a world of comics they thought didn't exist anymore, which is really positive, and experimenting not only with the 2000AD and 'nostalgia' market but some new comics and graphic novels too.
Your investment also helps us get the magazines into libraries, guiding them what comics to purchase. We are also working on a pull out comic to be passed on to young kids - leaving the 'adults' the rest of the magazine to read while encouraging the next generation of 2000AD and comic readers!
We hope you can support this work and there is something in the sale for you. As they say, every little helps and thanks.

ComicScene UK is coming to 600 selected WHSmith travel and high street stores in December.  Full details at https://comicsflix.org/2018/11/15/comicscene-uk-to-go-into-whsmith/

This is added to the 250 potential comic stores across the UK via Diamond, those who buy in our store or subscribe via www.comicscene.tictail.com or order through websites such as Forbidden Planet or GetMyComics.com

Taking advantage of this new potential market to promote comics we are renumbering with a pilot issue over Christmas and New Year months (from 19 Dec) and then back to monthly again on 20th February.  It will be all new material.

I'm sure you want to see the magazine succeed as much as we do - so buying back issues, subscribing, trying out our special publications such as the Annual and the Crikey! volumes will really help at www.comicscene.tictail.com - there is some Black Friday deals on there at the moment.  Details of other Black Friday comic deals at https://comicsflix.org/2018/11/14/comicscene-uk-black-friday-deals-available-now/

Or get down to your local comic shop and set up a standing order or add to your pull list - they can order it for you through Diamond.

All help and support greatly appreciated.
