Inspired by a discussion on another forum thread, I recently took a second look at the Garth Ennis story Raider. It got me thinking how many graduates from the famous Class of '79 we have encountered over the years, and just what percentage turned out to be, by varying degrees, wrong 'uns?

Here is the best I can come up with, in chronological order.

Alvin
First appearance - prog 2
Current status - Dead (killed by Whitey).

Joseph Dredd
First appearance - prog 2
Current status - still going strong after all these years.

Steele
First appearance - 1978 annual
Current status - Hypnotised by criminal Igor Sansky, he murdered four judges before being killed by Dredd.

Rico Dredd
First appearance - prog 30
Current status - Turned criminal; served 20 years on Titan. Killed in a shootout with his brother on his return to MC-1.

Gibson
First appearance - prog 34
Current status - adopted a criminal alter ego as Mutie The Pig. Unmasked then killed by Dredd.

Wagner
First appearance - prog 35 (first shown Prog 811)
Current status - Unknown

Hunt
First appearance - prog 35 (first shown Prog 811)
Current status - Unknown

Karl Raider
First appearance - prog 810
Current status - handed his badge in 20 years after graduation. Turned vigilante. Killed in a showdown with Dredd.

Kray
First appearance - Prog 811
Current status - Unknown

Peters
First appearance - Prog 811
Current status - Unknown

Bart Kimble
First appearance - prog 2006
Current status - Titan? Confessed to misuse of funds (also possibly unjudicial liasions).

West
First appearance - Prog 2006
Current status - Unknown

Dykson?
First appearance - Prog 2006
Current status - Unknown

Nestor
First appearance - prog 1652
Current status - Dead (suicide).

If there are any others I've missed, I'd love to know.

Love this!

You've got all the ones I can think of.

I think either Hunt or Wagner was killed in prog 40 or 41, but I'm not at home so I can't check.

Fine work, GGG!

I wonder if, as a proportion, the members of Class of '79 who are still going is similar to the number of Prog Oners who are still reading the Prog today...

Judge Hunt crashed his Lawmaster in Prog 41 (Mega City 5000, Part 2) but doesn't seem to have been definitively killed. (And there may well be more than one judge named Hunt, I guess.)
