We're into our second week of the tourney now - so our thrill-critique-drivers should be well and truly warmed up - what delights will we have to tease them this week? Well some are ... interesting... shall we say...
After a rocky few ties quality wise I think things really ramp up here; one of my favourite new(ish) thrills and our second Strontium Dog spin-off in the tourney so far
Which most rattles your thrill-receptors:
Young Middenface - more info (http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=thrill&page=profiles&Comic=Megazine&choice=MIDDEN)
Vs.
Zaucer of Zilk - more info (http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=thrill&page=profiles&choice=zilk)
Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.
Match ends early on the morning of Friday 5th November and the winner gets a place in Round 2 (of 9!!!).

In a heartbeat Zilk

Middenface for me
I don't remember a thing about Young Middenface. Zilk was entertaining enough so wins it for me.
Finally, a match I don't have to abstain from! Young Middenface wins here for me - not as consistent as Zaucer by any stretch, but it did feel like it was heading somewhere, and it's a crying shame it never really got the conclusion it deserved. The early Patrick Goddard adventures were particularly great. Zaucer never really clicked with me.
Young Middenface
Young Middenface
Zaucer of Zilk by a McCarthy mile.
i can't help it - middenface. but mainly for extra curricular reasons.
Zaucer of ZILK (chanted to the tune of the theme from the Addams Family, which has been getting a lot of play from my family over the last weekend)
Zaucer of Zilk gies Middenface his lumps.
Middenface as it was OK. I always want to like McCarthy zaniness but it never does anything for me.
Zaucer of Zilk.
Cheers

Zaucer of Zilk
The 2nd series did not quite capture the excellence of the first but was still vert good. Young Middenface was perfectly good but nothing out of the ordinary.
Zaucer of Zilk
Middenface. I'll take a chance on voting for anything SD related. Zaucer was a little strange for me.
From a quick glance through the thread this one seems close and so any last minute votes today could swing the result when I count up in the morning and annouce the final result, so if you haven't voted yet get um in...
Zilk
Zaucer of Zilk. The first story was wonderful stuff. Marvellous McCarthy art with a suitably breezy story tying it all together. The disappointing second story showed that daftness isn't as easy as it looks.
Young Middenface. I've only read a couple of stories but I would've liked to see more. Am I right in saying it reflects Scottish politics in much the same way that Billy the Fish reflects the fortunes of Newcastle United FC?
Zaucer of Zilk. Just
Zilk get the vote, IIRC Young Middenface was a decent read but overstayed its welcome.
VOTING CLOSED
Well this is what we get when we get two great thrills. Most popular vote to date and going into the last day there was only one vote between the two stories. The last day however saw
Zaucer of Zilk
Confidently stride in those fancy pants into the 2nd Round. Nothing against Young Middenface but that's a relief as its a great thrill.
