Ready or Not. Great little black comedy horror on Disney+. Delightfully bloody and violent. Feels like a Blumhouse movie.

Get well soon. JB.

I'm just over a bad cold that I think might have been the new variant. I did a couple of swab tests but they were negative and there were no PCR tests available. I'm triple jabbed, so it was no worse than a bad head cold for a few days.

Assassin's Creed Origins. Almost 30 hours in and barely have half the map uncovered. This is just bloody brilliant. Such a step up from the final few last gen games (although I did enjoy the one in London). Loving every minute of this.

I think a showrunner can work - if you have a writer's room. Things like Breaking Bad or the Sopranos worked because they had many writers working on various episodes. Those writers would then feed back on everyone else's scripts with the showrunner steering the direction of the show.
What we had on Who these past seasons was Chibnall writing the majority of the episodes with what feels like nobody there to tell him what was a good or bad idea.

Although on the plus side, it was nice to hear a Belfast accent in the future.

I love Doctor Who. I think Jodie is/was incredible in the role... but I have no idea what was going on in that final episode. What a mess.

In the Exorcist when filming the scene were the possessed Regan slaps her mum Chris McNeil throwing her on to a table the man pulling the rope to make Ellen Burstyn crash onto it pulled too hard causing her permanent back problems

That was on Friedkin, because he was a fricking maniac who told the stunt guy to pull the rope as hard as he could without telling the actor. He was and is a piece of shit in the Kubrick mould of abusing women.

I did directly ask Pat on social media about the lack of any credit for Martin and accompanying proper profit share for his family, and he replied with some weak shite about the producers not wanting too many names in the credits.

IIRC, you even offered to put him in contact with the family... I'll go out on a limb here and guess he didn't take you up on it.

Funt: I’ve not watched the show in a while. I’m a bit scared to revisit any Whedon stuff, TBH. I suspect I won’t like it as much as I did at the time. (It’s not like some of the dodgier elements weren’t evident at the time, but I’m not sure I could stomach them today. Although I do wonder whether Firefly would hold its own better than, say, Buffy.)

I'm approaching the end of an Angel rewatch. Hadn't seen it since it was first broadcast, and I don't think I even watched the final season at the time. Now, maybe it's just with hindsight goggles and the knowledge of what a real shit Whedon really was, but some of the sexual politics are questionable. Pretty much every female character is ditzy, needing saved or just plain stupid. And the way Cordelia was effectively fridged is nothing short of disgraceful.

This is a real thing that exists.

What, the giant lizard…?

*Obligatory joke comparing Lundgren and Adkins' acting ability to a CGI lizard.*

I am currently watching a movie on Prime. It is called Legendary, and stars Scott Adkins and Dolph Lundgren as rival cryptozoologists hunting a giant lizard in China. This is a real thing that exists.
