Will Nemesis have colour spreads? Just measured up, and the new editions seem to be the same as the complete edition phone book size, give or take, so I’m sorely tempted to replace them with lovely hardbacks. Just a shame about the covers, as I’m not collecting the whole set so they’ll look a bit odd on the shelf.

Any subbers still waiting for their prog? Usually a Saturday without fail.

I already had The Horned God in a massive hardback, but for £2 I thought it worthwhile to check out the new edition. First thought - it's a bit small? Were the originals that size? The quality is much better than my old edition though, which possibly got resized the other way a bit too far. I suspect I'll be dipping in as required, as I'm pretty happy with my Rebellion TPBs.

This discussion has made me realise just how much classic stuff I already own. I'm not so much of a completist to double dip, so I think it'll just be pick and mix for me, and filling in the gaps. Looking forward to:
Durham Red, as The Empty Suns has been unavailable since forever
Complete Caballistics - it's always annoyed me that the final two series weren't collected
I probably have enough Slaine (apart from the 90s stuff) and all of Nemesis (Book 1 at least three times) plus all of classic Stront. The only annoying thing for me is Dante - I'm just missing one volume (TS vol 1) and would prefer to plug that gap with the original volume (which will never appear now) rather than a hardback that probably contains a chunk of TS vol 2.

The worst thing here for me is that the only book of Dante I've not got is the second Tsar wars. So- do I let all my current trades go and get the UC versions or just pick up the UC edition that runs those issues?

Me too, though I think it's the first volume of Tsar Wars I don't have. Dilemma, though I'm not sure I'd want to buy 9 volumes of it at £10 a pop.

Annoyingly, the edition that takes us through to the end (the numbered purple spines) is currently only available from vol 6 (Hell and High Water) onwards, and the latest reprint (with character pics on the spines) seems to have stalled at vol 3 (Love and War), meaning both Tsar Wars volumes (4 and 5) are out of print. I eventually located vol 5 in a comic shop after much searching online, but vol 4 has eluded me - I finally cracked and bought the digital version, as my reread had been thwarted for months by then.

The whole saga is ripe for a reprint in mega volumes, grouped a bit more sensibly than they have this far:
1. Up to the outbreak of war
2. The war
3. Pirate Dante
4. In the employ of the Tsar
5. The revolutions (both of them) and conclusion

I feel sorry for Dredd. He's obviously dying for the robot to fuck up even though he's also impressed by it.

Dry Run
Kola Kommandos
Basically a load of 90s stuff that should never again see the light of day.

Friday prog in Perth, which is fab, as I was going away for the weekend, so could read it on the train.

2012 is this week's, cover date 4 Jan. It reached me as a subscriber a week earlier than I would have expected. I'm expecting 2013 to drop through the letterbox today, to put us back on track.

I have to say, HMD is the one Dredd collection I own that I've never been tempted to reread. I only bought it because it was new (to me) material not featured in the prog. The Itchy and Scratchy style violence would be amusing in a one off, but it does begin to wear thin after a while. If I was selectively buying the Mega Collection I'd steer well clear of this one.

Those three words you dread, that always end a Mills story - "To Be Continued". Much as I like most of Pat's work, it would be nice if he could ever finish something.

News / Re: Rebellion To Reprint The Last American

I don't think I was aware of The Last American before this recent publicity. I'd be unlikely to buy it in hardback, but I might take a punt on a paperback.

I'd usually doubt that it's possible to spoiler the premise of a story (rather than the outcome), but it would have been a nice surprise to turn the page of Prog 2000's Dredd story and see Bishop Desmond Snodgrass rather than see it in a preview.

General / Any subscribers still waiting for 1998?
« on: 16 September, 2016, 04:36:37 PM »
I usually get my prog in the Saturday post. I'm aware there have been distribution issues, but it's now Friday and still no prog! Just about the worst week for this to happen. I'm terrified to look at the review threads in case I pick up spoilers. Just wondered if anyone else is in the same position?
If no prog tomorrow, I think it'll have to be WHSmiths for an extra one.
