Yeah that was a good film.  I generally don't rate zombie films at all.

I thought about it, but I didn't watch the Elm Street remake so I won't watch the Friday remake.  I need something different.

I didn't expect much from the Elm Street remake but it's actually very good.  Mainly because it changes Freddy from being a wise-cracking dickhead into a really malevolent force.  It's very effective.

You've still got Freddy vs Jason to watch I guess?  That's quite good fun.

None of it is high art but I find a lot of the Ft13s entertaining where as I find Halloween a bit too plodding and predictable.

Deffo check out Hatchet.  But maybe give yourself a few months off from slasher flicks first.

Jason X is a lot of fun.  I really like it.

I had a mixed weekend of film watching.

Stowaway - Amazingly this film manages to end too abruptly and yet also feel like it's about three hours too long.  The concept is okay and should set up a fun 'The Martian'-esque science 'em up film.  But instead it's just achingly dull.

Four Rooms - I gave up about five minutes into the second segment.  This is one of the worst things I've ever watched.

Halloween 3 - Recently I tried to watch all the Halloweens but skipped 3 as I was just doing the Michael Myers storyline.  It was fucking awful.  I used to rate Halloween 2 but even that seemed plodding and cliched.  I think I bailed after Halloween 5.  They'd gotten really bad by then.  I saw H20 in the cinema (it was rubbish) and I caught that one a couple of years back (also rubbish).

But I really enjoyed Halloween 3.  It's incredibly daft and makes little to no sense but it is fun to watch, has some incredibly silly kills in it and it feels more Carpenter-esque than the original.

The Descent - I really liked this 15 years ago so I don't know why I've waited this long to rewatch.  Much like Blair Witch, the idea of just being there without some sort of malevolent presence is enough.  Fuck every bit of going into caves.  Throw in those things and it's even scarier.  Liked it a lot.

My data fails to distinguish well between a cameo and a starring role, for example.

I generally group it all into 'main timeline' (so basically the linear appear/get captured/get released story that started in 1980 and has taken us through to Deliverance) and then everything else.  If it's just a mention/someone dressed as Death/a hallucination I'll tag it as a 'mention.'

Well, this has been a bit of a bonus.

In covering Hag Team, I also spotted an appearance from Max and Ghastly at the end of that FCBD special.

Thanks again, Funt.  I've added your site to my resources page and given credit on the Hag Team article too.

I don't know if it would help to cross reference any of my Death data. As befits such a wide-ranging set of characters and stories, I've got other sections for the Sisters, the newer Deadworld saga and The Dark Judges.

For recognition by TMO, you might try writing to Input - I've noticed things like mad Lego projects and so on getting some traction through blunt self-promotion. If you don't ask...

Cheers, Funt.

Damn!  I wish I'd seen your site when I started.  I was cross-referencing a few sites (Barney, the wikis) and it was slow progress!!!

Looks like I caught almost everything apart from 'Hag Team' and some Visions stuff but that might be because Death isn't specifically in them.

I'll have a good dig through your site though to make sure.  Fab work, Funt.

Needs a new entry, as Visions... paused for a few issues after the initial trilogy and then came back for a few more stories.

OH!

Bloody hell.

6 and X are certainly my favourites.

If you want to see something highly inspired by Ft13 but with sillier more graphic kills, check out the Hatchet series.  There are four of them, again pretty mixed but if you get the uncut ones they're good fun.

They are over the top and a bit gory but it's all in a sort of silly Bad Taste/Brain Dead kind of way rather than some sort of horrible Hostel type of thing.

There's a curious thing about this site.  2000ad on Twitter have never once reacted in any way to any of the site's content.  No likes, no retweets.  Even when the tweet mentions to get a specific issue from their shop.  But I've noticed they're usually quite active and happy to like/retweet other things by other people.

I'm not complaining in any way, they don't have to do anything.  And it doesn't make any difference to me (although their support would get me a few more views I guess but that's not really going to change anything).

But it makes me wonder, are they against this sort of thing?  They don't lose anything from the site being up and arguably it helps buyers know what progs/megs to get but it feels almost like company policy.  As if fan-made sites aren't to be supported.

I could be wrong.  Maybe they just think it's rubbish.

I'm going to do a 31 days of horror thing this month.  Try to catch up on all these horror films.

Rather than do the usual thing of following set categories (which is how the internet does this), I'm just going to watch 31 horror films I've not seen.

There's not much to it really.  The main thing is if all four wheels are on the ground, your combo is over.

So from leaving the ground you just need to cram in as many tricks as possible (usually flip tricks with the square button as they are quickest) or hold grabs (circle button) for as long as possible.

At some point you need to land though so you either have to revert (can't remember the button) and then manual (wheelie) away or land on a grindy rail.

I think that's pretty much it.  You need good stats for speed, ollie and air to really do this well.

I also played King's Bounty 2, the true sequel to my favourite ever game.  Didn't like it AT ALL.

Oh no! I love Kings Bounty and was thinking about getting this. It's no good then?

Not very good, no.  The thing I love about the original is that all the info you need is right there.  You know what unit is selected, how they move, what their offensive capabilities are.  You know if they'll survive the battle.

In KB2 it's just a big mess.  Obviously it's all in a 3D engine now so it's not got the clear look of the original.  But also every unit just has a lot of stats, so it's hard to really judge what your capabilities are.

The graphics are shocking.  Like an average PS3 game.  The last thing I played that was this ugly on a technical level was maybe Two Worlds.  It has that feel.  It's a shame because the environments are actually very nice but the character models are awful.

The voice acting hurts.  Your character has two speeds:  slow or very slow (yes, there's a button to make you walk slower for some sick reason).  Navigating the world is horrible and actually the battles are usually pretty devastating, meaning that even if you win, the cost to you and your army is high.

I've completed the original KB more times than I can remember but I didn't get more than halfway through KB2 before realising that life is too precious to play this shit.

Playing/reviewing loads of tat at the moment.

Most recent is GTA Online which is something I'd never play again (I dabbled for a bit on the 360).  In a private game with friends it was quite good fun.  Starting to show its age.  And that was the PS4 version.  Just running missions at the moment and trying to make sense of the fucking awful menu system.

Inked.  Stylish isometric puzzler that makes up for its slow gameplay with some lovely visuals.  Refreshingly short too.  If it was any longer it'd be dull.  Worth it for the eye candy and the mopey story.

Uncharted.  The first one.  I'd never bothered before.  Quite enjoyed it.  I was led to believe the gunplay in it was dreadful but it was okay.  It felt so much like a game that it kind of gave me Resident Evil 4 flashbacks.  Liked it.  Started the 2nd one too.  Enjoying the stealth.

Also;

Embr - fun firefighting game with mad physics. Bit of a party game. Reminded me of Overcooked but first-person and entirely different.

G-Darius HD and Crisis Wing - a couple of difficult shoot 'em ups that play okay but ultimately frustrate.

Skeletal Avenger - the new game by 10Tons, who made Jydge, Neonchrome and the Tesla vs. Lovecraft games.  Not up to their usual excellent standards but decent hack and slash rogue-like fun all the same.

I think I'm done with Aliens: Fireteam.  It was enjoyable and I've been through it a few times but it is a bit samey and lacking in content so I think I'm done.  The DLC roadmap only mentions new classes and gear.  Which I couldn't care less about.

I also played King's Bounty 2, the true sequel to my favourite ever game.  Didn't like it AT ALL.
