« on: 05 May, 2022, 01:53:35 PM »
Will leafy Buckinghamshire gain a new Film Studio? With Leavesden and Pinewood nearby in Hertfordshire, High Wycombe, of Mayor weighing fame, might be the place. It's just along the road from me, so maybe I'll get 'ugly extras' work.

Absolute Legendary Comic Artist Neal Adams has died. Damn! He was such a brilliant draughtsman; he revolutionised the medium and produced what was probably then unequalled photorealistic art.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Moonraker-Ian Fleming. It's the first James Bond I've ever read and has some intriguing post-WW2 tones with German rocket Engineers employed by a British Firm led by Hugo Drax to create an unstoppable Intercontinental Ballistic Missle. Drax was cheating at cards at a London Club, the Bounder, and this unacceptable behaviour propels Bond into Drax's world of then cutting edge manufacturing. Very readable, which surprised me, as I thought Bond books would be a relatively dry affair.

No Time To Die. The final Bond with Daniel Craig was pretty good with a fine cast, good action scenes, a few shocking twists and a nod to the possible future. Interesting, the end occurred in a 1950s Missles Silo, Bond being a product of the post-WW2 world. The Villian's motivation seemed slightly skewed, but Pierce Brosnan's Die Another Day and Roger Moore's A View To A Kill was far worse as final Bond films go.

Yes, Sir Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson will publish two new F&F books for the 40th Anniversary. Nerds throughout this reality faint with mental fervour!

The Easter Cat has risen!
I used to see a long-tailed white Ginger cat at work in the morning, but well into the Covid epidemic, I feared I'd spotted his splatted cat corpse on the road up the town. I never saw the ginger cat after the splatting incident and sadly assumed that it was he who had met his end there, and so I gave up on ever seeing 'scowling cat' as I nicknamed him when he looked at me ever again. But this morning, a miracle took place, for as I walked from one workplace to another, standing upon the Road, as if he owned the feckin' thing, was 'scowling cat,' hunting micey in the trees that ran alongside! Scowling Cat has risen from the dead! So, I wish you all a Happy Easter and choccy munchy good times.

Film & TV / BBC Options Eve Stranger Series.
« on: 06 April, 2022, 08:26:47 PM »
The BBC has optioned to make a TV programme based on a comic. I'd never heard of Eve Stranger until I read about it on downthetubes, and it could be excellent news for other Comic book creators.

Not sure if this is up already, but in the video about Medieval lifestyles, Jason Kingsley discusses how close they were to getting the Mega-City One show made-then Covid happened along.

You can pre-order Alan Moore's writing course at the BBC. Not cheap at £80, but you'll probably be hard-pressed to find better writing advice.

Film & TV / Amazon Purchase MGM Studios.

MGM, the home of the Stargate franchise, is now owned by Amazon. Will the bald Bezo commission more Stargate series, or have they got enough of those already? MGM has an extensive film library too.
