Many thanks to all who came to Shedcon, I think we can probably declare that one a success. Next year: Michael Sheardhttp://www.arthurwyatt.co.uk/images/blog/shedcon1.jpg">

Off Topic / Biowire
02 December, 2002, 06:31:28 PM
Those I mentioned it to will be pleased to, though now I have to limp around in sandals to accommodate the bandage.

I was under a general aesthetic for the procedure, but The doctor described the offending nail as "being like barbed wire" when he cut it out. Later he described the fragments of nail as "like fishhooks".

...which makes me think that somehow the biowire that rogue keeps running into would be all the more disgusting if it was made from toenail material.

General / Shedcon : Pub News
27 November, 2002, 04:56:52 PM
Myself and Oddboy went a breif reconnaissance expedidition to the Horse and Groom last night. It?s a pleasant enough pub, though nothing special. I don't see any difficulty in us meeting up their for Shedcon.

However it is worth remembering that Shedcon is just us meeting up for a piss up. Its not any kind of official organised event at all. I think it might be worth radically downgrading any expectations you have regarding quizzes, readings, handing out prizes etc... Etc... I don't see any of those things working well at all.

See you all there!

General / Shedcon Venues! Your opinions please!
31 October, 2002, 08:33:03 PM
The date is set (13th December, the day before dreddcon) as is the agenda (drink and talk crap) All we need to do now is set the venue.

Hopefully this would be a (quietish) pub where they don't mind a bunch of weirdos turning up with a Tharg sign and talking about Rogues nads. But where? Should it be close to the Dreddcon venue, for continuities sake? Close to the official hotel? In Camden or Hampstead, solely because they're convenient for me?

I'm open to suggestions.

General / Dagon
28 October, 2002, 08:06:16 PM
Fans of bollocks horror films loosely based on the work of HP Lovecraft should check out "Dagon", which appears to be a (very loose) adaptation of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth".

Its no "In The Mouth Of Madness" but it beats, say, "Reanimator".

(Unfortunately its not shot on location in Portsmouth using a cast of locals, which would have been my choice, but the effect is much the same.)

If Dreddcon turns out to be a bit of a washout, or worse if it turns out its going to be some kind of slick marketing event,  howabout we all meet up in a pub and pin a poster of Tharg to the wall? Of course, for the true Con feel we'd need a couple of tressle tables...

Call me a cynic, but I have a feeling that no good will come of either of these projects.

General / Scarlet Traces - hot tripod action
30 September, 2002, 04:20:06 PM
Hmm... I can understand the commercial imperative for the CGI Dredd cover this Meg, but is there any chance of a lovely D'Israeili drawn "Scarlet Traces" cover for one of the next two? Maybe one of the Martian war machines kicking the shit out of Woking?

THE PULSE: When you began working in comics, did anyone try to discourage you from being a writer? If you've seen those people recently, was a different tune being sung?

NG: If there are any, they'd no longer admit it, and I'd not remind them ...

Didn't one of the 2000ad editors tell him his whimsical fantasy approach would never cut it in comics?

Fans of Adrian Bamforths work may want to check out Phoenix Square). And if you've not seen it yet check out my gruesome collaboration with Chris Askham, The Bodyshifters.
