There seem to be several videos and pics of the 2008 bonfire online - Grud, I see what you mean - it's 8 stories tall! Is that your car park at the Days?

Yup, that's the spot

Pics of the scorched, ruined tarmac or it didn't happen! I presume you get the day off while all this is going on, because your services surely won't be required.

You'd think so, wouldn't ye? It's not an NI company, so that's not the case

Wait 'til ye hear this...

I run a hotel car park. The Hotel is on the edge of an area of Belfast called Sandy Row, the car park is also open to non residents. To give you an idea of the kind of place Sandy Row is, across the road, there is a mural stating 'Welcome to Sandy Row, Loyalist Heartland of South Belfast'*. This statement is bookended by two lads in Balaclavas**.

Now you may or may not be aware that every year, Loyalists like to have a great big bonfire on the eve of the 'Glorious Twelfth'. Basically it's a debautched banquet of booze, bigotry and bonfires. The residents of Sandy Row have decided to host this auspicious occasion in my carpark. And I don't have a say in this at all.

Apparently 'Brigadier' MacDonald has informed our manager that any attempts to intervene, will result in systematic vandalism of every vehicle using the lot. The cops don't want to know, but that's a whole other story.

These bonfires are typically two stories high, and take up half a football field. Never mind the amount of space this thing is consuming, no one is going to use a car park in which one of these monstrocities has been erected.

So basically, I live in a country where it's okay for unemployed bigots to erect a huge fire hazard on private property, and, when they're finished, they all get pissed and set the thing on fire.

Holy Troll-bait, no 1966 Batman Movie?

I'll throw in the name Jason Statham here, wouldn't be my first choice, but it's the kind of role he goes for.

Anthony Hopkins would make a decent Doctor.

Since I'm indulging in wild speculation I reckon Carl should be played by none other than Frank 'Know what I mean 'arry?' Bruno

I read on the internet that the brontosaurus 'never existed.' Apparently the brontosaurus was made up of the skeleton of an apatosaurus and the head of a camarasaurus found at an entirely different dig site. Either name would have done of course, but the apatasaurus was already found and named in 1877, by Othniel Charles Marsh, before he turned up a brontosaurus specimen two years later and imagined it to be a separate species. He augmented the find with missing bits to prove how different the new find was from the smaller incomplete specimen found previously.

I heard that there's no such thing as a Triceratops either, there's a theory that it's just an adolescent Torosaurus.

And while we're on the subject of bringing back dinosaurs, Jurassic Park has shown us how to do it,  SO WHERE'S MY PET DINOSAUR, SPIELBERG?

Looking forward to this now. McMahon and Fabry, bloody legends. Can't wait to meet D'israeli and P.J too.

Good to hear. It really wouldn't do anyone any favours to forbid fans from discussing the film on the official forum.

Off Topic / Re: String.

I reckon it had something to do with postmen's bundles of letters.

Nowadays I keep seeing red rubber bands everywhere. I think that's also the postman. Any posties here to confirm that?

Also does anyone know where I can get some bailing twine? It looks like the brown string you're talking about except its blue

I just started a thread all about string. I trust this makes my own position quite clear.

It's about bloody time somebody did. Can't wait to pull that thread off topic by mentioning bailing twine

Think nothing of it Mr. Wolf. I've never been snapped at so level headedly.

I'm always a wee bit snappy meself, especially before dinner

Is there a way of ignoring individual threads?
