Games / Re: HIVEMIND: Finally having a Wii

I would highly recommend getting a few Gamecube controllers and a memory card. Ye can usually get them for a fiver each on ebay. There are a lot of fun family games, like Monkey Ball, and when it comes to frantic button mashing, nothing beats Mario Party

I've no time for wrestling either. See that fella, he had more character in his little finger than the entire current roster. Best stage name ever. Made me smile every time, especially since the yanks were seemingly oblivious to its connotations.

I've never been very good at syntax.

Speaking of which, a friend of mine showed me the following, from the wikipedia entry on brackets/parentheses:

QuoteParentheses may also be nested (with one set (such as this) inside another set). This is not commonly used in formal writing (though sometimes other brackets [especially parentheses] will be used for one or more inner set of parentheses [in other words, secondary {or even tertiary} phrases can be found within the main sentence]

When citing a statement, you are quoting a quotation. Quote is a verb, quotation is the noun.
My 2nd form english teacher made me write a hundred lines to that effect. This very site has the option to 'Insert Quote'. According to my 2nd form English teacher, that's bad English.

I suspect it had something to do with IP addresses and whatnot. I'm just going to adjust me tinfoil hat, just in case there are more sinister forces at work

Y'know what? As much as we've been mocking this fella, I would be really interested to read a full description of his theories (unfortunately, as has been pointed out, he didn't publish anything). From what little I've gleaned from the internet, he was a scientist, even if he's only considered a pseudo-scientist. Regardless, I would like to hear about this fella's hypotheses. As is, there's nothing here that ye can fully refute

I'm not sure what you mean.

Could you break this point up?

Possibly into ten?

Play Misty for Me. A very early instalment of the obsessed girlfriend/fan slasher. Handled really well by Clint in his first departure as a director.

I attempted to download this about a year ago. I got a porno instead. This fact has been a running joke ever since

Not really a headline, more of a tag line

Got back from my shift late the other night.
That program 'See Hear'*(a show about Deaf culture) was on.
The subtitle read:

You don't have to suffer in silence

Genius. Bloody Genius

*My mate Andy works on it for BBCNI.

THE MIDDLE AGES NEVER HAPPENED!

http://cargocollective.com/michaelpaukner/598823/Phantom-Time-Hypothesis

QuoteWhen Dr. Hans-Ulrich Niemitz introduces his paper on the "phantom time hypothesis", he kindly asks his readers to be patient, benevolent, and open to radically new ideas, because his claims are highly unconventional. This is because his paper is suggesting three difficult-to-believe propositions: 1) Hundreds of years ago, our calendar was polluted with 297 years which never occurred; 2) this is not the year 2010, but rather 1713; and 3) The purveyors of this hypothesis are not crackpots.

The whole hypothesis is availible as a PDF (see link), it's quite interesting

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

That's something I love about Pratchett, there's no right order to read the books. Everyone jumps on the Discworld series at different points and works through it in their own way. It gives rise to a variety of different interpretations of the characters/themes. He's a very clever man is Pratchett.

I read this a while back, thought it would be appropriate for this thread:

It may be in bad taste (hence it was banned), but it's clever:
