I offered to give a friend one of my spare spud guns for his kid, and his wife reacted as if I suggested her son dress as Adolf Hitler for a fancy dress parade.  Luckily I hadn't said that and went with Fred West.

My mate's mum was completely opposed to him and his brothers playing with toy guns and wouldn't allow them. All that happened was they made guns out of Lego.
