Having seen the title of the thread and before actually opening it, my first thoughts were "well it's got to be something by Iron Maiden, surely".

MAIDEN,MAIDEN, Eddie kills Thatcher! Ah, the days of youth how fleeting they were.

Jamie Reid did some cracking work for the Sex Pistols. Both singles and album cover are pretty iconic.

I guess most will be ultra familiar with them so no need to post up.

Or the Clash with London Calling putting a new wave twist on Elvis....

One of my favourites, the Masters Of Reality debut album.

The Baroness album covers are stunning and drawn by their singer too!



Also the full album art for Mastodon's Leviathan by Paul Romano always stuns me:

First two albums from my favourite band, King's X, had some great art.

My favourite studio album of all time, and my favourite album cover of all time.  I had so much fun finding all the Easter Eggs in the hieroglyphics.

I am bookmarking this thread to refer to next time the forum tears the 2000AD designers to shreds.

The best album cover of all time is the 1990 self-titled debut from Melbourne duo Crent.

Even though I don't own it, I've always liked the cover to Goo by Sonic Youth - gives off a real Love and Rockets (the comic, not the band) crossed with Shade: the Changing Man (the Peter Milligan / Chris Bachalo version) vibe.

You really should own it its a MAGNIFICENT record, not their best, but bloomin' great and of course inspiration for this very old art comp entry
