Less an entry and more a regret. Years ago, I talked to Bolt about doing a short story for Dogbreath using Whistler, the Strontium Dog character he created. He patiently listened and said he'd be happy to run it. I did a bunch of sketches and half a first page but never got around to doing the whole thing, mainly as I could never think of a decent ending. After a while, I felt too sheepish to continue and dropped the idea. I regret that I always found other things to do than finish it. But these are the sketches I sent to Dave of Whistler at the time, amazed I still have them to be honest but glad I do. (And yes, I knew I drew his head wrong - Dave never mentioned it)

Have had this on my study wall for years: Bolt's rendition of a few boarders as fatties for a poster we did for Dreddcon back in the day.

Third from right. Devastated, cannot believe it. Poor Mini-Bolt, Izzy and Julie.

Prog / Re: Prog 2174 - Blind Fury!

Bit of a necropost, but due to various pandemic-related postal issues we are currently missing the required copies of 2000 AD Prog 2174 (cover date 25 March 2020) for inclusion in our archive. This is a longshot, but if anyone has a couple of good quality copies they'd be willing to part with so that we can keep the archive properly stocked we'd be happy to reimburse them for cover price and cost of postage. Please PM me through the forum if you have. Many thanks!

Add this to the new 'oh you didn't get your physical prog, well we're out and so have a digital instead' and the days of Denise are well and truly behind us.

I'm sorry, but I really do have to say something in response to this. I think your comment is very much undeserved. Simon and Cameron on our customer services team have been going above and beyond over the past year. They are both working from home, dealing with a postal service that is losing up to 10 per cent of issues sent out every week, sending out replacement issues as quickly as possible, and dealing with hundreds of new queries and issues a day.

This situation continues to be awful and it is uncharitable in the extreme to suggest they don't care or are providing a sub-standard service. We're sorry that circumstances are not ideal, but they are providing a first rate service and I'm really quite disappointed to read your comment.

Help! / Re: Ordering Print on Demand T-Shirts

Apologies, but due to unfortunate difficulties with shipments to the EU we are having to restrict sales of apparel until the charges and duty applicable have been resolved for that region. A warning will be going up on the site as soon as possible.

so this year's quarantine 3.0 will definitely have a thrill drought. disappointed. rigelian blasts all round.

I was a bit concerned to see this so checked and can confirm nothing has changed - the current print Prog and Meg continue to be exempt from P&P (if ordered within the first week (and first month) after publication).

This applies when they're ordered by themselves, if ordered with other physical products there will be a shipping charge but the Progs won't be part of that consideration.

Hope that sets your mind at rest.

I retract my previous statement

How completely random - I know the fella on the receiving end of that shield, we're members of the same non-medieval reenactment group. We had a good laugh at this, it must be said.

Just posted this on our socials, thought I would be an idea to add on this thread too:

Subscribers: there continues to be huge postal disruption across the UK, which is delaying the arrival of subs issues of 2000 AD. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control. Please be patient during this challenging and unusual period. Our customer services droids are as frustrated as everyone by these delays, we know they're "just" robots but please do not take your frustrations out on them! Tharg abides!

Books & Comics / Re: Humble Bundle 2000ad

The CBZ files from the 2000 AD shop have been sent to Humble Bundle and they have uploaded them. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far. HB have said they do not apply any further compression to the files so, if distortion is still occurring, please let us know on this thread - with examples - so that we can get to the bottom of this. Cheers!

Some of the lettering in the Brink CBZ is nearly unreadable, very aliased. That's on a 12.9 iPad.

Could you possibly post examples, Robes? Or email them to press@2000AD.com - thanks!

AFAWK the files we supplied are fine, we're looking into these issues and are in discussion with HB about possible causes.

If you can see particularly egregious examples, please post them on this thread and I'll pass them along.

Huh, the files we sent have been checked and are fine - is it JUST the cbz files that are at issue here? If so, could someone redownload and have a look at them again for me?

There was talk of John Sanders writing his memoirs, so perhaps that will clear things up...
