Off Topic / Re: Arcade Fire

Went to see them with my wife at MEN Arena, and they were absolutely superb. Highlights were Keep the car running, Intervention, No cars go and Wake up. My wife particularly liked Regine singing on "I'm sleeping in a submarine". The only downside was the size of the Arena, and the fact my wife got vertigo in her seat!

They played a cover of Still Ill by The Smiths for the Manchester crowd. I wonder what they'll cover in Newcastle? Fog on the Tyne perhaps???

Nothing in my copy of 1067, not mentioned in the Nerve Centre either. Prog 1068 was falling over itself to advertize the poster prog contained within it's pages so I would imagine the database got it wrong and prog 1067 was without poster prog.

"THEY TOOK MY ACTION AWAY!!!"

So when 2000AD came along it was a natural replacement, lost my space spinner though...it went next door after a gust of wind took it high and I never saw it again. Have never stopped reading 2000AD in 30 years.

However as much as I have always loved 2000AD, the "Action" summer of 1976 was where comics became stapled on as a love of my life. 2000AD had no chance when it came out, I was always going to snap it up.

"You're kidding right, Mobius?"

Well I wasn't kidding but I stand suitably embarrased!

It's a shame that it is a mock-up because it came with all the excitement I remember about reading tooth back in the seventies. I would have picked that off the shelf without hesitation and whinged until my dad had paid out to buy it. My dad, God rest his soul, used to moan about tooth every week, regularly calling it "bloody crap". However he still always read each issue....three times!!

Seeing that mock-up was like finding £100 in an old pair of jeans. Now it feels like I found Monopoly money. Boooo.

"Perhaps it's one of the tales that was planned for the abandoned 1978 Judge Dredd weekly comic?"

I've never seen that cover before. is there anything on this site regarding the proposed series and is that a real copy of the comic? Any info would be appreciated.

Books & Comics / Re: How dangerous is Mold....
25 August, 2006, 01:14:49 AM
D'ya know when I read the title of this thread I thought you were asking how dangerous is Mold, the town in Flintshire, North Wales!

To answer your questions, I would imagine that as mould produces spores when exposed to drought conditions then it won't spread unless the other books are exposed to moisture. However the spores are allergens so if you or anyone else is asthmatic then there is the slightest chance it may exacerbate symptoms. Can you get lurgy from mould?? I doubt it!

Help! / Re: How Should I Store My Old 2000...

Sorry, would help if I read your question properly!!

I keep my progs in my loft and have never had any problem with damage to progs. I would worry about storing them in the airing cupboard if they are important to you. they will probably dry out and curl.

Buy storage boxes from your local Scribbles or Partners stationary shop, the type that you buy flat and assemble yourself. They hold upwards of 200 progs both old style and new style. If bagging your progs then more like 200 per box. Just make sure your boxes are reinforced around the handles as 200 progs is pretty heavy!! IIRC Ikea also has a good storage box which is well reinforced.

Film & TV / Re: NEW DR WHO TONIGHT, EPISODE 2,...

"Or destroy a major part of old Dr Who Continuity!"

Maybe.....maybe not. Use the old TARDIS to zap back in time and foil the war thus saving Gallifrey but breaking the old rule about not interfereing in the time-space continuum which was often referred to in old-style Dr Who. Not a likely plt thread I agree but who knows (no pun intended!)

Anyway, having him alone in space as the last of his race makes you understand the space traveller and care for the character a little more....which is what Russel T wanted from this series.

I've made a mistake, later episodes of One Eyed Jack were written by M Scott Goodall and Chris Lowder

One eyed Jack was exclusively drawn by John Cooper and exclusively writted by John Wagner.

Gaunt was scripted by John Wagner and Pat Mills
