Gawd that was something else.  I remember going half blind squinting through all that strobe lighting in the final battle for a better look at the, errr, alien.   At least I think that's what happened to my eyesight...

I was much younger than a teenager when I first saw Alien, and so what went through my head at the time was that, bad as it is having a big, slimey alien beasty with acid for blood trying to kill you, it must be far, far worse having to do deal with it while wearing only your vest and pants.
