Help! / Stront Stead Question...
04 April, 2008, 10:45:22 AM

Memory fails me (again).

Could anyone tell me what the animals (you know, the ones that look like alien camels) Johnny and Wulf ride around on are called?

Cheers!

Everybody Do The Zoove

Wake's very kindly put up a new strip in the Fan Thrills section scripted by our very own Al Ewing with myself on art and letters duty.

If you also like to read your thrills on the printed page, this story will feature in Zarjaz's forthcoming 30th Anniversary Judge Dredd Special which will be available within the next few weeks.

Thanks.

I've been looking for a visual ref for the exterior of the Academy Of Law, or at least something more recent than it's first appearence in case files 1 (you know, the story where the first Giant graduates).

I don't have many progs to hand ATM so a digital photograph or quick scan would be much appreciated.

Off Topic / Second Life anyone?
27 June, 2007, 05:42:21 PM

Wondered if anyone else has encountered this?

"Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 7,612,761 people from around the globe."

I know that one of the courses at the college I work at is making some tentative steps into contributing to this ever expanding on-line environment, with over seven and a half million users worldwide I created a free account a couple of days ago to see what all the fuss is about.

Off Topic / For those who like Lego..
17 June, 2007, 07:00:55 PM
An interesting diversion- found this on Friday afternoon.

A *FREE* downloadable virtual Lego set.

The brick selection seems to be a little limited and there are certain brick combos it refuses to recognise but apart from that I'm seriously impressed with this bit of freeware.

If you actually want tangible, plastic versions of your builds you can upload the file to the site with the option to buy.

Books & Comics / Rufus Dayglo appears in IDW's DOOMED 4
29 December, 2006, 09:35:07 PM

Just wanted to draw your collective attention to to this-

Rufus provides art for F. Paul Wilson's Faces.

And very fine it is too.

What's more it's printed on this killer old school stock that really sets it off.

Games / Judge Dredd Board Game Enquiry.
27 November, 2006, 07:58:28 PM

After more years than I care to remember my Judge Dredd Board Game was returned to me this weekend along with a few Titan books and old progs.

Amongst other things the game's contents lists "1 Umpty Candy Card Album" or "Illustrated Booklet" on the back of the box.

Can anyone remember if Games Workshop actually produced one for inclusion with the game?

There ain't one in the box and I have no recollection of ever owning one..

Also find attached an example of my (9 years old at the time) ham-fisted attempt at improving one of the playing pieces.

Links / Fonts For Small Pressers?
25 October, 2006, 04:24:48 PM

Just wanted to draw your collective attention to a site some of my students use when they're looking for a font that's a little different from the usual Arial, Caslon or Didot.

There are a few interesting hand generated typefaces if you want some edgy looking lettering, however what I think this site excels at (novelty tat aside) is providing access to some eye catching one-offs for use on covers and article headers.

Enjoy.

One for the American parents perhaps(?)

Friends of mine are about to have a baby and I want to get something practical, fun, stylish and unique for the new arrival. Tall order? Maybe you can help.

Cast your mind back to when you where a kid. Do you remember the sun hats that had porthole-style sun glasses actually sewn into the brim?

During the seventies my parents took advantage of Freddie Laker's Sky Train and a strong pound to visit friends.  On one occasion we came back with one of those hats.

I was wondering if they had a collective name (to make internet searching easier), or if they're still popular in the states.

Finally read the last part of Made In England.

Plot in this instance was reasonable.

Artwork sublime.

Help! / Why Can't I find Colin McNeil's Rogue sketch?
14 November, 2005, 11:31:38 PM

Some time this year (last year?) there was a sketch thread which included a helm-and-shoulders pencil sketch of Rogue by Colin McNeil.

(V. surprised it's not in with the rest of the Rogue Trooper Sketches)

Anyone remember it? Could we see it again?
