30 April, 2003, 07:35:11 AM
Just to say that I recieved my out-of-print Judge Dredd Streets of MegaCity One
Titan graphic novel this morning;

And that the Mike McMahon artwork therein still rocks my world.

Special thanks to Wake for making that happen.

Classifieds / Inquiry about annuals for Buggs.
27 April, 2003, 12:31:42 AM
Hi  Buggs

Tried e-mailing you via the contacts link but it seems to have failed to post anyway I noticed that you've got a Judge Dredd annual 1982 on your sales list- is  it still available?
And if so what would the price plus P&P be?
I'm not too bothered about the general condition, just whether all the pages are intact- old fleetway books tend to shed pages when the spines get broken.

Cheers  B.

I'm listening to this years Reith Lectures 2003, BBC Radio 4 right now.

'Professor Ramachandran shows how phenomena such as Capgras' delusion illuminate fundamental aspects of our minds such as body image, emotions and the evolution of humor.'

Forget the wordy write-up- this is amazing radio about preception and the brain. It's repeated on Sat. 5 Apr. 10.15am

Doors open at 12 noon.

The next is on May 10th.

General / A world without Joe..

'I had thought at first that old JD was going to be offed as he's getting pretty near pensioner age.'
The Big Man

'That'd be a tale that would upset many fans but is somehow inevitable?'
Esoteric Ed

Paraphrasing comments I made earlier in Ed's thread, Dredd's universe has grown to exceed the confines of Dredd's beat and the walls of MC1 and our reading experience is richer for it. we have been introduced to the Hell Trekkers, Chopper, the Taxidermist, Anderson, Devlin Waugh, Preacher Cain, Shimura etc. all owe their existence to 'Judge Dredd' but have proved that he does not have to be present within the story to allow them to thrill and entertain.

In the same way that 2000ad kept it's name after the millennium because the title has come to mean much more than just a dateline I could see the Judge Dredd strip function in a similar fashion (pains me to say) without Joe..

Besides, now we have Rico Jr.

It's true, they're going to metal'em into submission

In the past  psi ops of the US forces have played sound recordings of various vehicles and weapons within ear shot of enemy troops to psychologically undermine them, believing they're grossly out numbered, they to surrender.

However psi ops have discovered that metal music has the same effect-
They played metal none stop outside General Noriaga's gaf until he gave himself up.

Now the recording of choice in Iraq is AC/DC's Back in Black..  I kid you not.

I've already mentioned this in another thread,

But have just been to the Thrill Zone else where on this site and have realised that I've missed out on eighteen Missionary Man stories!

Are there any plans in the offing for another collected publication or two or three or.. ?

Off Topic / I taste like peanut butter?
17 March, 2003, 03:41:14 AM

Trawling through the various fan sites linked to the message board I found a mildly amusing online questionaire via the
Prog 534 Club/ Oddboy's "Trust Me I know what I'm doing" titled 'what flavour am I?'
according to this I taste like peanut butter..
which is apt since I got through a bag of celery and half a jar of the stuff this afternoon.

Thanks to Oddboy for setting that up.

Most if not all of the line artwork that now features in 2000 and the Megazine is coloured/shaded in Photoshop-

I've clocked most work straight away, but with something like Bring Me the Head of Lenny Zerro I wondered how much of the shading was digitally introduced to the artwork and  due to it's sketchy nature was it done with a Wacom tablet or some other similar tool rather than a mouse.

General / It?s a thin line between casual and casualty..
15 February, 2003, 09:24:49 PM
It?s a thin line between casual and casualty..

Yet another evening ends in the all night algerian cafe on the high street drinking black treacle coffees and puffing away on a cherry flavoured hookah..

Four hours of sleep later and still enough alcohol in my system to pre-empt the mother of all hangovers for just a few hours more I?m fishing for cures- anyone got any?
