And we've done it... we've made it... the final week of the seemingly unending Round 2. It amazes me that we've stayed the distance, not killed each other over the course of these last 16 weeks, our love persists and maybe we need to take a break before charging headlong into anything else? I mean this week ends on a doozy, maybe we should take a break there and reflect.... Orrrr....

...see ya Monday for Round 3!

How many times have I hailed a modern thrill being the flag bearer of Tharg's current crop of series? Too many, far too many some would say BUT has it ever been more true than for Brink. An absolute stonewall modern classic... except to those who think it's a slow moving exercise in talking heads... does Mercy Heights, ER with ET, have a chance against it either way?

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early on the morning of Friday 6th May and the winner gets a place in Round 3 (of 9!!!).

What on Earth is ALL of this?

For those that need 'um and can be bothered to follow 'um there's some simple rules

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN

Brink by the length of Mercury and more.

Colin I can save you time you can already call it no need to count the votes
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Brink.

By far the best modern thrill; it's so good it's even challenging the very best of the classics for me.

Yeah, I reckon you can call this now- Brink. Best of the very best.

You're a dark horse, Boots.

I mean, Mercy Heights I'm sure sounded like a great concept and it filled a nice niche in the Prog for a bit - but it just never went anywhere. Too much spacewar, not enough soap opera.
Brink is all those things and so much more, can't get enough of it.

The quality of Mercy Heights is not strained but Brink gets my vote.  ;)

I'm sure someone is going to be the dissenting voice here, but it certainly isn't going to be me. Mercy Heights is very much number two out of two when it comes to '2000 AD does ER' and only really became interesting when it morphed into sort-of Rogue Trooper.

Brink, though, is a modern 2000 AD classic that's right up there with the best the Prog has ever published. This is the kind of boxing match that would be stopped after a first-minute pummelling.

Mercy Heights...

...which I'm not a fan of but I prefer it to Brink.

I'm a Tor Cyan apoligist, but Mercy Heights just isn't very good. An easy win for Brink here.
