After watching Willow recently with the wife, she remarked, "that's the worst film I've ever seen!"

I decided to keep quiet, although feeling my temperature rise - I didn't want it to turn into a situation ala Spaced "Babylon 5's a big pile of shite!"

Have you had to defend the sci-fi genre with intensity?

And afterwards felt that you hadn't sounded like a twat?

Help! / Re: Star Wars comics - Where to start?
26 May, 2009, 03:01:38 PM
http://www.darkhorse.com

There's legacy. set i think 100+ years after the battle of yavin* (ie. star wars a new hope).  When their main artist's on this it's pretty good: a decendant of skywalker named cade is the main character, he's a troubled soul, ex-pirate etc..

In this, the sith have new ideas about how to be ie. many sith under one leader.

and there's Knights of the old republic.  Which is set waaay before BBOY*  The art on this goes up and down but, the main protaganist Zane garrick is fantastic; he's a failed padawan who's hooked up with a con-man.
Rather than having full-on jedi powers, he's kind of reminiscent of Longshot from the x-men?  In that he's unbelievabley lucky - fate definately favours him.

Film & TV / FAVOURITE ARNIE LINES
22 May, 2009, 03:40:30 PM
Was watching Total recall the other night and almost wet myself;

Arnie's having a fight with his supposed wife and when he shoots her in the head, he says, "Consider that a divorce!"

Brilliant.

Classic arnie lines that you think are brilliant?

Loving Zombo, the art, story and ideas eg. clone lovers, sentient deathworlds etc.

I'd love this to come out as a hardback T(p)B like that Lobster Random arc did.
