Hi Guys,
Have just noticed that Planet Replica 'Dredd Helmets' are being changed,  and will now be manufactured in Resin,  so therefore will be slightly 'cheaper' than the fibreglass versions that they sell with the full costume...
However, I see that on ebay there is a prop replica Dredd helmet ( bidding already started ) and it looks like the Karl Urban one from the movie.....Just in case anyone is interested....Think I might have a 'punt' at this myself...What do you guys think of it ??

I wish the replica film-helmets could be made official. The varying quality of those unlicensed ones is off putting.

There are a couple of exceptional builds in the pipeline at this very moment.

Double post - as no edit function.

This isnt an original, is it? Or even taken from the same moulds as strangelysaucy's helmet?

The thing is,  I'm actually looking to buy a Dredd helmet for my brothers' bithday in July this year.  Planet Replicas want £275 + postage, so it's going to work out at around £300 !!...That's if I can get one from them.....That's a hell of a lot of cash......Does anyone know where I can get a good one ( Large ) size.
I quite like the look of the one on ebay, but am a bit wary about the quality.....
Any recommendations ???

The RPF Forum is the place to visit and that will be the Dredd part of it, obviously  ;)

Bit hard to control that when you sell the original props...

Sorry, I'm obviously a bit of a twat...but RPF forum ??...New here, so don't know what that is...
Would put embarrased face here, but it doesn't seem to work...

All it takes is an official license stamp. The scattered nature of production in the costume-group really appeals to a hard-core and I can't imagine it being long-term for all those items.

It's this other/outside/non-2000ad board here http://www.therpf.com/
for folk who like to take their dress-up to a whole other level .
It's easy to find the Dredd stuff; out of all the marvel/DC/Starwars stuff,- he is the only character with his own section.

Best thing I've seen on it is this:http://www.therpf.com/f71/judgelusks-judge-dredd-helmet-contest-entry-179033/

Also, if the smileys don't come up on your browser then a colon ':'   a dash '- '  and a square bracket '[ ' should all magically transform into an embarrassed face when you put them together. :-[

EDIT: another words what Albion just said.

But it also means policing unlicensed ones, and since actual props are out in the wild, it makes it a lot easier to recast from those than sculpt new (and arguably takes less artistic skill) - I can't imagine they're that interested, considering the size of the market of merchandise of a film that flopped.

They're obviously not interested but some are, a lot more than anyone expected. An official license-holder could've been provided with the original materials, that weren't sold, to replicate. Having all those items in one place is more attractive than buying them from a scattering of hobbyists with varying standards.

Thanks Guys,
Got the links and visited the RPF forum,  but couldn't find any helmets for sale there...Interesting site though, and some serious modelling going on there...I'm not into Cosplay ( either is my brother ) but thought a Dredd helmet would be a great present now he's 50...
He's already got the Planet Replica personalised name badge, and a Lawgiver so thought this would go down well...
As I said, I do quite like the look of the one for sale in ebay ( mad-law-creations ) and it looks a reasonable version of the one in the Urban Dredd movie, so will keep my eye on it....less than 1 day to go, but I think it's going to be out of my price range...
Cheers,
Bob
