Off Topic / Taking The Long Walk
27 March, 2002, 09:58:26 PM
Dear all,

Today is the second sunny day in a row. Without a laptop, being online and being in the garden are two things I can't do simultaneously.

So it's decision time.

I've enjoyed the threads here but life's too short so I'm taking the long walk (down the garden path).
Thanks for all your posts, I hope to see some of you at Comics 2002 or Dreddcon 2002. Have fun!

Nathan McGuffin

General / Prog 1284 - spoilers
27 March, 2002, 08:31:02 PM
All in all a pretty good prog, thanks to an excellent Dredd.

Sinister Dexter is actually quite entertaining despite a huge hole in the plot.

Atavar has got dressed and the story is starting to get interesting.

On the down side, Nikolai Dante is dull and there is a Telguuth.

And the cover looks like Ramone has had his portrait painted by a sunday watercolourist.

That wasn't supposed to happen. I thought I was typing the 999th thread, setting it up for the rest of you, but Doug was typing his Novel artwork post at the same time.
Oh well, I'll pass on the crown in 1000 posts time.

You are wrong because you didn't answer the question Doug asked! He asked why an old paperback illustration was used on the megazine cover. He didn't ask why a picture of a sunset was used on the megazine cover.

Yes the sunset marks the end of Bish-op's tenure, that's obvious, but it doesn't explain why a nine year old sunset was used instead of a new one commissioned.

With respect, Scojey, read the question in future!

Ignore Scojo, he's wrong again! David Bishop was posting here earlier, perhaps he'll enlighten us.

I can only assume it was David's favourite piece of Dredd artwork ever and he wanted it for his swansong. Although the fact that it was used on the front and back covers complete with messy fingerprint smudge and blobs suggests it might have been an emergency cover. Maybe just a money-saving exercise?

"Halo was more melodrama soap opera than classic 2k sci-fi stuff"

Halo Jones? Melodrama soap opera?

Did you cut your brain shaving?

Has sooshi sprayed in your eyeballs?

With respect, Scojo, I give up on you!

Snacks of Doom, like Reefer Madness, was more horror-themed humour than a straight horror tale. As such I think it was more successful than In Memoriam (prog 1281).

Snacks of Doom was a Terror Tale, not a Future Shock. I thought it was fun, despite the mediocre artwork.

Please don't liken the Galaxy's Greatest Comic to the Sun and FHM

Mr Whit,

Is Scojo confusing fascism with national socialism now?

None of my copies are mint, none of them are in plastic bags except the odd prog I've bought to fill a gap in a STORY ;-)

This reader does :-)

And so does this one!

Mr Whit,

Scojo believes he wins every debate he enters. The more arguments there are on this board the more he thinks he'll win because he's a great mass debater.
