Dead Frontier - free 3D zombie MMORPG

Dead Frontier is a free 3D zombie/survival MMORPG, I've had a nose around and it looks impressive and seems to work well. It is also handy that they limit you to a mission a day, so it isn't a big sink on your time.

Tips

Don't bother scrapping items as they tend to sell quickly as long as you don't put things up for sale at silly prices. I have noticed that you can level too quickly if you go out on a few scavenging runs (if you kill a lot of zombies) and get to defend the outpost against attack a few times, as the XP flows in then - going up levels too quickly can mean it is more expensive staying on at the beginner outpost (when you pass level 10 the food and medicine that you find is pretty useless so you have to buy more expensive ones). So don't bother grinding early on, the missions will sort you out.

Other than that the usual RPG advice applies - specialise. Don't spread your points around focus on a couple of weapons and a couple of attributes that support those.
