...you have a detailed dream in which you are Sláine in Dragonheist, but notice that this time around, your world has been painted by Bisley rather than drawn by Belardinelli.

...you remember asking your father as a child whether the first 'x' in 'grexnix' is silent, only to be met with a puzzled stare.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that one.  Whose was the funeral again?  I seem to remember it was some famous surfer from yesteryear (but still our future, of course).

Only for a few minutes after posting.  You could ask a mod, but I wouldn't worry about it - it's only a tiny error.  There was an extensive interview with JB in the Megazine, in which he discusses his techniques, but I can't remember the issue.  Anyone?

Episode 2 is where things really kick off!

Well...why didn't you guys kick things off where things kick off? If you don't mind me asking.

To be fair, I think he's kind of explained it - if I read him correctly, he put the first one out and waited for feedback, which he is using to inform the direction of the second one.    Nothing wrong with a slow build-up if you ask me, and I quite liked the weirdness and mystery of the complete change of scene from city to forest.

My weirdest commission yet got a mention on one of my favourite websites.  Result!

(Possibly NSFW, but nothing too dodgy)

Any idea who she is?

Toni Shilleto.

Fine cheekbones. Classical jawline. Winning smile. Well worth referencing as a photo.

Want.

Does anyone think The Rock Drill by Jacob Epstein looks like Nemesis?

Nahhh. It's Mad Ronn, innit?

Michael Portillo: it's not a life skill in terms of something you need to survive. Instant meals are available or you can go out to restaurants.

Let them eat cake...

Haven't read all the climate change posts, but I will.

In my years of collecting, Chopper, Midnight surfer have really stayed with me- I've even collected it in many forms, Progs, collected additions with Song of the Surfer being the climax of love for the characters.

Although it should have been a fitting end for our hero in Song of the Surfer, he survived- but I think leave him be, and continue the story with the life he saved in Midnight surfer, and do a story on Yogi, the 'then' world champion! This will provide many options to explore, including the legacy of Chop Chop.

Aaaahhhh, lovely.  Fair play, very nice job on a great character.  Supersurf spawned a whole host of excellent characters; despite the typical Dreddworld national stereotyping involved.  (Just ten minutes ago I had a chat on Skype with one of my teenaged Russian students - they really are a lot more cheerful and fun than that grim-faced Sov surfer in Supersurf 10.)
Anyway, a Yogi story would indeed be nice,
even with the knowledge that our hero will finally get castrated and killed on a spikey pole.  What a horrid death.
Quote from: AlexF on 20 November, 2013, 11:32:59 AM(To be fair, about 30% of Big Dave is actually funny, a lot of it down to Parkhouse.)

I thought a lot of it was funny, and it got a few of my Viz-reading friends into 2000ad at the time.  It was breath-takingly tasteless and even disturbing in places, but I genuinely found it funny.  It helped to have mates who'd look at it with me and share the laughs, of course.

QuoteColin Smith is currently trashing his way through Mark Millar's 2000AD output, making the point that the poor man tries so hard to be anti-homophobic that he comes across as a raging homophobe.

The only instance I can think of is Big Dave, and you'd want to be pretty thick not to see that the writers were knocking homophobes rather than gays.  There was Ducky the camp insect in Robohunter too I suppose, but all pretty harmless as far as I could see.

It was always pretty implicit - Phaedra calls him an 'old Scotch fairy' in Phase II, to which Eddie only gets offended by her use of 'Scotch' instead of 'Scottish'. Similarly, Zenith makes a few comments to him that indicate Eddie's sexuality is no secret. Eddie himself confirms it in zzzzenith.com when he claims he's "just about turned straight with boredom" waiting for Zenith to show up. I love Eddie - he gets almost all the best lines in the series.

Me too; he's a legend.  'Away and make friends with the toaster or something.'

I thought the 'turned straight' thing was some Scottish expression I wasn't familiar with; I didn't know he actually meant 'turned hetero'.

Veering back to the topic - did anybody else cop that Eddie McPhail was gay?  Grant Morrison confirms it in Supergods.  If so, how did you realise that?  I certainly didn't.  I've heard it said that he was camp but even while rereading it as an adult it never occurred to me.

Would that have made him the first gay character in 2000ad?  Though there was some actor guy in Strontium Dog:  Rage whose homosexuality was at least heavily alluded to.
