Greg Palast 'leaks' J.K. Rowling's other ending...

Haven't read the Potter books or even seen the films -apart from bits 'n pieces- but investigative reporter Greg Palast has an interesting anecdote on the other ending he coerced Rowling to reveal...Reminds me of the end of Sláine: Treasues of Britain...and sounds like an ending they should have gone with...

It's interesting in terms of symmetry, but it doesn't seem to gel with the last few books - in particular Voldemort's father as a loving figure is a big change from the shit he is in the book.  The date would make it contemporary with the writing of Half Blood Prince, so that might make sense.  It does agree with the Lucasian claim of writing the final chapter in 1990, if this is that original  chapter - the elements are ones that have already been used and used up as the series went on (Dementors in particular, an aspect done to death).

The "The End...?" ending is hopeless, but I do like the idea of shifting the epilogue further into the future.

Nothing wrong with a bit 'o killjoy just as you leaf the last page and turn over into slumber.
