I'm watching the George Floyd murder trial, and I'm wondering if this series will still get made, because there will probably be less demand than there would have been a year ago for a tv series about a cop who summarily executes people without trial.

I'd say there's surely no more appropriate time for a really vicious satire of authoritarianism and police brutality.

Definitely.

Whether the whole film will be good who knows but the trailer certainly makes it look worth watching at least.

Well looks like Covid will be a final nail in the coffin.   I can't see it happening for a long time...if at all.

They're actually one of the few productions who have spoken up about having a plan for that (and it sounds like a similar approach to The Mandalorian which looked very convincing) -

"Rebellion Studios, the film division of UK-based multimedia company Rebellion — which produces comic books, video games, film, and visual effects services — is currently in the process of producing film content with the help of its video game engine. It can create virtual environments that require minimal on-set demand from production teams. Camera work and lighting are performed remotely, actors are motion-captured in and out of scenes, and there’s significant reduction in the amount of work needed in the post-production process, because computer-generated images are being created along with the live-action performances."

That's interesting.  Well hopefully they could do that and I wonder if that could save a lot in costs too?

If it happens, it won’t be for a long time, but that is entirely usual. If people read a few books on movie and TV series production, I suspect they would be quite surprised how long it takes properties to reach the screen — and reason it’s a small miracle pretty much anything appears at all.

That's true of course and obviously many other tv shows will be affected now.

ABCwarbot has a history of nay-saying about this project, and I think he's just trolling us. Don't feed the trolls.

No I haven't.   I was quite positive about it at first and still think it's a great idea for a tv series.  Just disappointed there hasn't been much movement on it and now Covid will unfortunately affect things.

Well I was pretty much enjoying the first 2 episodes even though there was obviously changes.   I didn't find it dull either.  The lack of the Thunderchild was bloody disappointing though but I thought at least we did at least see some ships firing and hitting a tripod.  And the beach scene did still have some good bits.

I also thought the bit with the black smoke was really good and eerie.   

I even liked the 3 legged Martian scenes..............but time was moving on and I was wondering.....just when the fook are we going to see tripods torching London?   Where's the epic scenes of London being destroyed?   Where, where, where???

Then of course as we all know now what we got instead was some annoying flash forward bits one fallen tripod (which could hardly be seen) and George's bit on the side smashing graves and ending up on a cliffs edge.   

There's some real twats at the BBC but was it Harness who decided to end it like that or did someone order him to make it like that?   The mind boggles.

Again I'm not reading the spoilers but knowing the BBC over the past few years I wouldn't be surprised if it's disappointing (and downright shit in some cases).  Mind you many big Hollywood films etc can be just as shite.   I'll let you know what I think at the end of it.

Let's hope so but it would be nice to have at least a small announcement once in a while.  It's been about 2 years since the last 2 pictures (as far as I recall anyway).
