I'm going to add my voice here to the calls for the post FS SD's strips to be reprinted, even if just as a series of floppys with the Meg. I had the pleasure of seeing a couple of Nigels pages from the series at BICS and if the jammy get who bought the one I wanted hadn't, then I would have a hell of a page on my front room wall by now :)

There's a number of these strips that I really like, as you say some glorious art by Nigel Dobbyn. The trouble is I do feel (as I've commented elsewhere) that Peter Hogan's plans were somewhat tramped upon by David Bishop giving him the chop. In my mind, without the full facts at all, this was a terrible shame.

Out of interest Grant (and apologise if you've posted about this already) but in response to your letter (I think it was it might just have been in the editorial?) a wee while ago Tharg said to contact him if you are still having any problems getting stuff in America. Have you done this? Its occured to me that you might not even have seen that issue yet to know Tharg wants the info sending???

If you have sent specific info have you heard back?

While I don't eat monkey cocks I do, through shear laziness often have the socks and sandles thing in common with the Romans. Now I know this is a bad thing and I'd never do it for more than say 10 minutes BUT if I'm just popping to the shop down the road, putting the bins out or say hanging out the washing its so much easier just to slip into those sandles and hope no one notices.

A 'silver surfer' is an octogenarian who attempts to pick up women.

I thought it was an octogenarian that cruised the internet, which of course could amount to the same thing?

Something about this makes me think of Cam Kennedy ... which immediately makes it a win in my book.

That's cos he clearly drew the chin...

I know, I know, it's been brought up many times. But here it is again:  Do you consider him dead?  Should the whole thing be forgotten about?

Me, I think the Final Solution was a great story and a fitting and epic death, so as as far  as I'm concerned, he's dead. I have no problem with the current crop of 'missing' stories, but if you ask me,the dog is toast, homes.

I wasn't aware that this was even a point of debate??? I thought (and I have to be honest I'm not sure why I think I've read this but I do) while John Wagner doesn't necessarily think it was the right thing to do to kill Johnny off he respects the fact that Alan Grant did this and will stand by it. Hence the retrospective new stories.

Judge Dredd: The Complete Daily Star Newspaper Strips
Just one volume collecting all the Wagner/Grant ones.

Would love to see this one and also a Harlem Heroes (original series).

I'd also like to see more stuff from the Meg as I don't get it but there are a few things that I'd love to read, Inserection and these Untold Tales stories currently running among them.

Oh and a Missionary Man omnibus.

I have now missed 2 Progs in a row. It's getting increasingly difficult for me to get to the shops midweek, and if I go into town at the weekend it's a special trip just to get 2000ad.

I'm going to have to turn to Tharg's Future Shop for my missing issues anyway, so I think it may be time I started subscribing again.

Looking at the subscription ad it would appear the only way to exercise the £130 one-off payment option to receive both titles is to send a cheque to the warehouse in Malden. Or is it possible to do this by credit card over the phone? The subscription ad doesn't say so.

I paid for mine over the phone about 4 months ago now so unless somethings changed hopefully shouldn't be a problem. Also as I recall Denise lets you pick the issue you want to start from so you may well be able to include the issues you're missing into your subscription rather than make a seperate payment for them.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Oh man oh man the Bendis Avengers brings out the sore nerd in me. I'm a massive traditional Avengers fan full runs (well if you include the Essentails up to 120ish) up to 320 of volume one, Full run of volume 3 and stuff like that. I REALLY gave the Bendis Avengers a full chance 'cos it was quite good comics BUT after issue 48 I gave up and let the death of
The Wasp
be an end. It was an ok comic that wasn't the Avengers as I understood them. I completely accept that I'm in the minority as its so massively popular so I just need to get over it.

Prog / Re: Prog 1661 - Download's Darkest Hour

Well happily I got my Prog too today. I'd had to avoid this thread up to then to stay spoiler free for the two big conclusions this week.

Funnily enough last when reviewing last weeks Prog someone said in reference to 'Strontium Dog' sometimes when a series is very good its hard to get an ending that matchs the quality. Well this week we had two ending that were completely wonderful and more than fitting to the quality of the fantastic series they rounded up. Both 'Kingdom' and 'Shakara' ending superbly.

I hope that isn't it for 'Shakara' but suspect it might be. There's one thing in there that gives me hope that there's more to come but if not the series has a satisfying conclusion.

Dredd continues well enough. I feel a little sorry for 'Sinister Dexter' as the continuing plot threads are being pushed along in short burst after short burst. I feel as though Tharg uses it as filler determining story size to fit the gaps he gets at the ends of runs and Abnett has to manipulate his story to suit. Utter speculation of course but I really wish 'Sinister Dexter' would get a good solid run to complete the current story. Mind having said all that still really enjoyed it.

'Necrophim' was fun but while I normally like Lee Carter's art but I felt it lacked the dynamitic edge to carry the combat in this issue. Shame cos overall I enjoying this story.

Great Prog with much of interest.

Its a kinda wonderful thing that people have so much time on their hands (says the man who has somehow managed to read 37 Progs in a week... not sure how...). Some of them are brillant.
