I think the last thing I bought by MSP was Your Love Alone Is Not Enough, which is one of the best things they've ever done, but - based on what other stuff I've heard since - appears to have been a final late flowering of whatever it was that made them interesting.

Some Billy Joel. You know, i've never really listened to much of his tunes before, but Shades of Grey is a great little ditty. Love it.

James Stacey

I haven't listened to River of Dreams in years, agreed its great. I think Stormfront is probably my favourite though

It must be 2000AD hive-mind thing but thanks to my dear old maw I was brought up listening to Billy Joel. I wouldn't consider myself a fan or anything but I will always holler along to the following if I ever happen upon them...

An Innocent Man http://youtu.be/H23tUK3z17U
The Longest Time http://youtu.be/a_XgQhMPeEQ

:geek:
Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

The definitive ratings of my MSP album collection -

Generation Terrorists - Good stuff if over ambitious
Gold Against The Soul - Singles OK the rest is middling
The Holy Bible - Best Thing Ever!
Everything Must Go - Not a bad comeback
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours - Hollow and cold
Know Your Enemy - The rot has definitely set in
Lifeblood - I only bought this to complete my collection
Send Away The Tigers - Disillusioned after Lifeblood so only bought on the strength of the lead single
Journal For Plague Lovers - The best that they've been for a long time
Postcards From A Young Man - A worrying step backwards
Rewind The Film - Bringing in guest vocalists has reinvigorated them

Like I said I am a big fan and will continue to buy whatever they release (new album soon) but like my other favourite heritage band R.E.M. (R.I.P.) I am not blind to the fact that once they lost a key member of the group they also lost a little bit of magic too and resorted to trading on past glories. :'(

I'd like to type one of my little essays in response to that, but every ounce of fluid has suddenly left my body.

Wild Beasts are a bit like Talk Talk. WARNING: they're hipsters - don't click on that link if you can't stand beards and OK GO style wacky video dancing.

Bucking the trend of old men sitting around listening to bands from their youth, I've been plowing through some lovely electronic stuff lately.

Zomby - With Love is (unsurprisingly) a love letter to all the different forms of 'leccy music, with a varied mix of tracks offering great examples of drum and bass, rave, house, dub step and IDM among others.

Letherette - Letherette is a feel-good, bouncy party album calling to mind 80's pop, hip hop and house.

Luke Vibert - Ridmik the master of acid returns with this wobbly masterpiece of crisp beats and gloopy synths.

Machinedrum - Vapor City dark dance-hall meets IDM.

Kidkanevil and Daisuke Tanabe - Kidsuke playful, experimental music which harks back to a childhood you never had.

Plaid - Reachy Prints IDM elder-statesmen return to remind us how it should be done.

OK, that's all. Back to your dusty vinyl, long split-up bands and whispered conversations of how "it's not like it used to be".
Raised in the wild by sarcastic wolves.

Previously known as L*e B*tes. Sshhh, going undercover...
