It was part of the masthead in the very first official version of this website, which I co-designed. I just looked at the dates on my grabs and that was—gulp—over a decade ago. Man, I feel old.

You're forgetting the previous version with Tharg's roving eye, which is why all the medium res images on BARNEY are 281 pixels high.

I was going to bid on that second one myself but hadn't got the cash available; kind of glad I didn't looking at those creases.  Were they done during transit by whichever postal service?  I don't recall the seller mentioning the creases in the listing...

They were done in transit. When shipping artwork in a corrugated cardboard sandwich, make sure that you have at least one sheet with the grain going the other way.

I think they should smooth out a little more with careful ironing, but I'm not sure they'll ever be invisible.

Here's a question. I bought these Durham Red pages by Modesty Blaise artist Enrique Badia Romero for £160 each but they arrived damaged (two vertical creases), which is a real shame because the pages are lovely. What are they worth now? How much would you pay for them? I've put one up for sale at £140, in case anyone wants to vote with their wallet.

Just bought a Mechanismo splash from the first story, and took the opportunity to upload some Colin MacNeil pages for sale from Insurrection and Tour of Duty.

Really nice art and fairly sought-after, I'd imagine; will be interesting to see how high these go.

I've love these pages since they are the ones I used as reference material when discussing the design of the Termight Replicas Judge Dredd helmet with Jon Bayliss (because they show multiple angles).



If I got one I'd probably sell or trade my current Steve Dillon page, but it looks like the prices will be too high for me.

Now forgive me if im being a bit slow, but is that seller trying to pass off the 2000ad special as original art? 

He doesn't actually call it original art and the other photos clearly show printed pages, but I was confused for a moment. It looks to me like the special is missing it's cover.

In case anybody spots this and wonders, this auction is not for the original Brett Ewins artwork for the Billion Credit Caper, since I still have it (available for sale at the right price, which is a lot more than £1000 for the complete 10 page story).

Yeah all the more so as back in the original issues it just says art by rather than noting (as I believe is the case) that Brett pencilled and Steve inked. I always used to puzzle over the process as some panel seem so clearly by Steve Dillon and other so definitively Brett Ewins. Over all though it simply looks a triumph.

Brett told me that he did the page layouts and then gave the pages to Steve to pencil (they shared a studio at the time). He then went over the pencils to add his style to some of the elements (I think he mentioned chins specifically). Brett then did the inking to finish the pages himself. This fits with some panels clearly showing Steve's pencils and others looking more like Brett's.

I was reading the Downloade Tales vol. 3 reprint and wanted to check its contents in the Barney database and where it fell in the Sin Dex reprint chronology. Only to find out neither Eurocrash or Moneyshots are listed or indexed in the database.

Is there anything I can do to get them on Barney and properly cross indexed?

While BARNEY is severely lacking on the recent spate of graphic novels, the original stories are there:

That's not strictly true. Rebellion were paying me some weekly freelance hours to run the site (2001-2008), working with / reporting to Dom Preston until he left in 2005.

Wow this thread is a depressing read, was there no mods around here circa 2005? 

Just me, and my general line was that people have to be accountable for what they write, even on off days. Mike Collins is one of the nicest guys I know in comics, but his Daily Star Dredd artwork wasn't as good as Ron Smith's.

I visited Brett on Saturday. He was looking quite a lot better than when I last saw him (just before the incident). I looked through his pile of Skreemer artwork and selected a dozen pages to sell, so they should be up soon. I'm also planning to put up the Bad Company 2002 pages since I don't have any more of the earlier stories. The story itself wasn't that great but there's a lot of nice artwork in it, and I think that was Brett's last work for 2000AD.

Brett is currently writing a novel (a thriller) which he's hoping to get published by Alan McKenzie by Christmas. His arthritis means that he can't take on any drawing work (at least nothing with a deadline) but he is able to write quite fast (in all caps as per comic lettering) and someone else is then typing his work up after he has edited it.
