Exciting news, readers!

The Galactic Crime Commission is an organisation committed to bringing justice to the furthest fringes of the known galaxy. With a highly trained and motivated workforce, the GCC is the premier agency for frontier justice in this most competitive of markets. Known informally as Strontium Dogs, GCC agents are almost exclusively made up of mutant humans from the planet Earth. This hardy breed are uniquely suited to this high stakes and challenging career. You can keep up with the latest from the GCC in the pages of Dogbreath.

Dogbreath was first published back in the late 20th Century by original editor Dr Bob. Dr Bob single handedly produced 14 issues of Dogbreath before deciding in 2007 or thereabouts to stand down. Since then Dogbreath has been published by Bolt-01 and my good compadre Richmond Clements (Though a simulated version of Dr Bob was good enough to stay on to introduce each issue)

The first 10 issues of Dogbreath are available to download (free and gratis) here.

The first issue of Dogbreath from FQP was issue 15 and we determined to bring you the best fanzine possible. We have just launched issue 27 and  our contributors read like a list of the finest creators you will 'ever' see including: Boo Cook, Nigel Dobbyn, Monty Nero, Graeme Neil Reid, Jim Campbell, Simon Coleby, Steve Roberts and those are just the one's  I think of as I'm typing.

Why am I telling you this? Simple really- we need scripts. Stories, strips, features we need them all. Dogbreath is THE longest running fanzine for 2000 AD. Zarjaz doesn't come close and the rest don't even get a mention.

The situation at the moment is that unless we get more content Dogbreath 28 will be the last one. How's that for exciting?

Email strontiumdogbreath@gmail.com if you want to communicate confidentially.

Mini-bolt Shaves his head!

Yup, that first built of mine is going to be divesting himself of his mighty Ginger mane on March 15th for Red-nose day.

I'm not normally one for mixing the old non-comic life up with the comics, but there are quite a few of you who know Mini-Bolt, and he would really appreciate the support.

For those of you who see me at Cardiff next week I'll have a bucket with his poster on and for each donation to the bucket you can choose from one of my growing horde of mini-sketches.

With any luck he'll be coming to Bristol with me this year (First time as a punter in 8 years for me) so he might be able to thank you personally.

The link above should take you through to his page, and whether you agree with the sentiment or not, this is Mini-Bolt starting to try and pay something back.

Hey there, fancy writing some pretty words to go with some pretty pictures? Well look no further 'cause the team from Zarjaz are here to help you realise that ambition!

We have below a set of pages by Bruno Stahl, runner up in the the Thought Bubble Art comp in 2012, but he forgot what the words are for the story, so it's up to YOU!

Email your script for this to zarjazcomic@gmail.com by the closing date of 31st January (just shy of two weeks) and the winner will see their script lettered up and presented on the Quaequam Blog by Bolt-01.

Images now removed as judging will begin soon.

Books & Comics / BABBLE OGN from UK creators
19 January, 2013, 11:07:56 AM
Gratuitous plug stuff first:

BABBLE is From the minds of writer Lee Robson and Bryan Coyle; and is an original GN published by Com.X.

On a personal note I can tell you that Lee has written more than 20 stories that I have published, and is one of the few writers I would consider capable of 'writing to order' when the need arises.  Bryan has completed over 100 pages of artwork for me and has proven himself time and again to be a 'go to' man for artwork.

Lee has been promoting the heck out of this for a while now, and I am writing this while my copy downloads from Comixology, I don't doubt I'm in for a treat when I read this tonight.

Events / Cardiff Comics Expo March 2-3
09 January, 2013, 09:22:34 AM
Cardiff Comics Expo this year looks like a blast, especially for fans of 2000 AD.

Not only do we have JUDGE MINTY getting a screening but Zarjaz will be premiereing issue 17. Not only that but after the successful appearance by Colin Macneil at Thought Bubble we have decided to have a second table for sketching & signing at Cardiff.

If you are a 2000 AD art droid (or even proto-droid) and you feel like resting your weary perambulatory unit for a while, let me know and we will arrange a time to suit. There are no fees involved and any funds generated are purely the droids own.

Events / DREDD Screening. Board Meet up?
28 August, 2012, 11:50:34 AM
Seeing as there are likely to be quite a few of us making our way to the screening on Thursday, what say we see about getting together for a meet up before and after?

I'll be arriving at approx 4.30 and my train heads back up to the brum wastes at 11, so I am definately able to meet up and talk nonsense with Squaxx for a little while.

Who else is coming and where shall we meet? Food would be nice, but not essential.

Help! / Flash Drive issues
20 January, 2011, 01:41:25 PM
I'm hoping someone here will be able to hopefully cast some light on my issue...

At work I run XP Professional. I have a 'personal' flash drive that is syched to the F drive. Now we have just been set up with a network drive that uses the same letter- and when I plug my flash drive in a I cannot view the files or access anything (on the flash drive, as the network drive is running) unless I disconnect the network drive- which I really shouldn't do as the whole office uses that drive now.

I 'think' I need to tell the flashdrive not to synch with F, as  the official work network is using that letter, but I can't find an option to unsynch it anywhere.

Help?

Classifieds / 2000 AD and Meg Collection for free!
09 December, 2010, 03:12:05 PM
Due to space issues, and having pretty much all my fave strips in collections now, I'm letting my collection of progs and megs go up to 1500.

The progs start at around the 150 mark and are almost entirely complete (may have an odd one or two miissing)

The Megs are complete from vol 3 on.

I'm not asking for anything for them- however you'll need to be in the Midlands area for collection. Post isn't really an option for something of this size and no- I'm not going to split it down. It does contain prog 1208.

If you are interested, PM me and we can take it from there.

Books & Comics / The Zarjaz & Dogbreath Thread.
09 July, 2010, 11:16:44 AM
Rather than starting new threads every time I want to waffle about the finest comics in the small press, I've decided to have a generic thread that I can update whenever I like.

To start the thread, here is the cover for issue 23 of the longest running 2000 AD fanzine, Dogbreath!

Artwork by strip artist James Feist, based on an idea by Richmond Clements.

This issue will be on sale in time for the BICS show in October, along with issue 10 of Zarjaz.

More info about the galaxies greatest fanzines can always be found at The Quaequam Blog! and you can buy copies of the comics at The FQP Webshop!

Events / Thought Bubble 2010- 20th November
28 May, 2010, 10:54:40 AM
http://thoughtbubblefestival.com/08home.asp

Seeing as I'm sorting the table for FQP and Dogbreath/Zarjaz, I thought I'd post up the date of the most diverse convention I've ever seen.

Last year was the first time I had been to Leeds and I had a blast! This year I'm going to be bringing my new assistant- Micro-Bolt. He will be 11 by then and so a single day gig will be a perfect introduction for him.

Prog / Prog 1679: Review.
03 April, 2010, 10:17:06 AM
All I really want to say is PLEASE Tharg, Stop printing Dante now. I know it isn't finished, but he deserves to stop now.

Thank you.

The actual comic is due from the printer on Tueday 23rd March, but Zarjaz 09 and Dogbreath 22 are now available in the FQP Webshop.

Zarjaz 09 features a cover by Nigel Dobbyn and is 48 pages of pure, unadulterated Thrill-power, the likes of which you will need a good sit-down after.

Dogbreath 22 is gift wrapped in a truly awesome cover by Neil Roberts (Remeber chums, he was one of mine before Tharg upgraded him) and how good is this issue? It is snecking awesome!

Starting tomorrow I'll be posting preview panels up for your optical enjoyment, and also over on the Quaequam blog as well- in fact the pictures will be different, so make sure you take a peep!

Click the link in my sig to visit the FQP shop, and can I also tell you that the latest issue of futureQuake is also available?

Click the link in my sig to visit the FQP shop, and can I also tell you that the galaxies greatest Fanzines, Dogbreath and Zarjaz, are also available?

As usual I'll be presenting panels from the strips in the initial launch window, and that the panels on the blog will be different from those here!

Today I present for you a panel from War of the Worlds by Mark Howard and George Coleman.

We've decided that to celebrate the upcoming A.B.C. Warriors animation from Firestep & Rebellion we will begin to work on a special issue of ZARJAZ.

To that end what we'd like to do is feature seven strips in the issue- that is one for each warrior. So if you have a Mongrol script rattling around your noggin, or a desire to see Morrigun back for one more time, feel free to pitch to us at the usual address. The blog can be found in my sig below.
