OK, I've given it a go, playing as Mordecai, the sniper. Not sure I like it.
Might have another bash with a different character.

I bought it in the Steam sale, and loved it at first. Then, after about ten missions of basically "get attacked by 8 million skags, die, restart with fewer bullets", I got pretty frustrated with it and the shine wore off. It's really not much fun after a while.
