News / Re: 2000 AD 30th Anniversary Party...

My main concern with it being held in a trendy london club is...  Who's DJing?

We're all fans of the comic, but I'm sure there's a wide range of musical tastes amongst us all, and if it's going to be generic r+b pop all night then I'd rather celebrate by staying at home and reading a prog.

...like the 30th birthday bash?

Assuming it's held this month, what with it being the 30th anniversay and all, I'll miss it 'cause I'm going to be in Australia for three weeks.

So I hope they do it in March when I get back!

I think it was her son Satanus who was black-scaled, rather then Ol' One Eye herself.

After the Zarjaz introduction, has Ishmael appeared in the Prog/Meg before now?

"Mind you- the most recent B&W Strontium Dog story Roadhouse, was too well drawn for me."

I got the impression (purely from looking at the story, so I'm probably wrong) that Roadhouse was drawn to be coloured, and then left b&w, rather then being designed to be b&w, if you see what I mean?

Wasn't there a reader's painting more recent then that? By Jock's nephew, IIRC.

Or is it disqualified for nepotism?

Meg 236 - Totally fair on that point.

V4.5 definitely WASN'T me. I though that Dredd story was rubbish.

You were lucky to get your 'Ask Tharg' included as the original text of your letter wasn't used. I felt kind as it was the anniversary prog.

Yes it was! TMO cut it down slightly - removed "Dear " from the beginning, and "Love & hugs," from the end, and didn't print my address, but otherwise it was directly as emailed to him.

1371- can't remember what this one was...
Just checked, it was a simple praising of stories, esp. CabInc.

Harestock, Winchester is where I grew up... in fact, I was there no Saturday having a roast with my parents.

There was deffo a letter sent to Dreddlines re: Charley's War... but I think Alan Barnes just name-checked me among several other letter-writers who wrote on the same subject (being, his choice to continue with CW strip showing London being bombed, the week after the July bombings in 2005.)
I'll have to dig out my megs tonight to flick through em!

1276, 1309, 1371, 1506 & 1526 were all mine.

Proof? 1276 was me admitting to liking "Killer". Surely no one else would admit that?

1309 was the subject of a boarders competition to get a letter printed. I won, my prize was a copy of that prog signed by loads of boarders, so ask them!

1371-  can't remember what this one was...

1506 & 1526 I still have in my email sent items box. I could forward them to you if you don't believe me! In fact, 1526 was originally one of my posts on the 2000ADreview site. 1506 was about my comics bookcase collapsing.

In the Meg-  there was a letter in Vol One #16, and I think one about Charley's War in summer 2005 sometime.

V4.5 - I don't know. What was it about?

Tharg (barely) answered my question in the 30th Anniversary prog...and there was the Good Company picture in prog 847 - but how many other letters have I had?

General / Re: There's something about Halo.....

The deal DID include rights... Rebellion wouldn't have bought it otherwise: The primary reason for a game developer buying the comic was so that it could use the characters for their games, not so that they could produce the comic.

Alan Moore has no legal right to complain about which stories Rebellion reprint, or which stories Rebellion continue with a different writer, he knows he signed the rights away when he wrote the story, that's how the system worked and that was the only way for him to get published & recognised back then.
That doesn't mean that he has to like it - and now that he's made a name for himself he is in a position to accept or decline anything he wants to.
If he doesn't want to continue Halo, he doesn't have to.
I doubt Rebellion or 2000AD would continue Halo without Moore, but there's no legal reason why they couldn't.

If not Mark Harrison, then how about Cam Kennedy & Chris Blythe? I'd imagine they'd do it proper justice.
