In the absence of any actual investigation by the police, I've managed to partially locate my stolen bike. It's in Bootle. Someone brought it into a bike shop and had the chain defect that's been bugging me for the last couple of weeks fixed. Sadly, he didn't need to leave the bike in, as it was only a minor tweak.

So I now have a general location and a description of the guy. Having spoken to the police, they've confirmed this info with the guy from the shop and are still unable to do anything. It's on file as "undetected", apparently, and likely to remain so.

This is how generally well-adjusted, law-abiding people get themselves into trouble, y'know...

Anyhow, here's a petition to ask Kickstarter to pull the funding campaign for this book: http://www.dosomething.org/petition/kickstarter  Which immediately makes me feel like I'm embracing censorship of something I haven't actually read, bar disgusting extracts, but in this instance I'm not sure I care. 

The whole thing is so symptomatic of humanity's worst aspects, well beyond the sexual arena:  Assert yourself as IN CHARGE.  Others should serve YOUR DESIRES because YOU ARE A LEADER.  Systematically manipulate everyone's weaknesses to get what you want.  The only reason to stop doing something you want to do is when someone is strong enough to stop you. 

If that's not a summary of the doom of the world, I don't know what is.

Seriously though, through my own recent experience, even CCTV seems to be useless in situations like this and the police have little interest. It's incredibly frustrating. Seems people can get away with pretty much any minor offence so long as they don't do it in clear sight of a policeman.
