No, they take it out of my wages in two installments. There's that at least.

I'm assuming they'll pay for it then claim it back off me.

That's worrying news that companies might require a new one. I guess it's understandable as I might have committed a crime in the time in between, but it's a bit much.

How much is it ?

I forget the exact figure but I think it's around £41-£42

So 2 payments of £20.

Not really a whole lot I suppose considering some costs. It's just when you're feeling the pinch a bit, and sold a couple of things to bring in money, then the next job wants to take £42 out of your wages just like that (and the wages aren't great, but above minimum, so I guess there's that) it's rather irritating.  Like a bit more extra tax, I guess. Heh.

I often mention here how incredibly busy I am. Don't think it is a case of me getting rich – a lot of my work has gone from getting paid next-to-nothing to literally nothing.

Had a massive freebie project on. Did two weeks solid of insanely long days and nights. Which means I have been left with one week to do all Xmas prep. I had the nerve to think I could meet a friend today as I don't have time for things like socialising throughout the year. As it's the Xmas season I dared to think I could squeeze in a coffee with a friend. Plan was to come back and start my advent calendar piece. I've done a very small doodle so far. After meeting my friend I went to pick up a present and opened my email to get the code. I had an email from people I do the real work for, to tell me tomorrow is their deadline to get invoices in to their accounts department. Oh, it's only a few days before Xmas – I don't have much to do, do I?

The same people did the same to me a few years ago three days before we moved. On my way out: "oh, can I have your invoices the deadline is..."

So forum advent calendar or invoices?

Well, they finally did it. My parents threw my prog collection in the bin behind my back.

Oh, so you're an orphan now?

Did they take your collection with them when they moved?

Nah, they came over this weekend just past to see some estate agents about the 'old' house. Put progs where in the attic, now in a skip somewhere outside Wigan!

On the plus side, I saved the valuable ones, to me at least. The first half a dozen of them, the 35th Anniversary progs, FCBD progs and end of year bumper progs. The rest, 3 years worth of progs, megs and floppies, gone to the great long box in the sky. Seeing as I switched to digital in 2014 though, it's not like I lost all my back issues.

It also means I can dip into the Absalom, Low Life, and Dante trades without feeling like I'm double dipping!

woke this morning to a flooded kitchen, the inlet hose for the washer was gushing even though we only had the heating on...went out to but a new hose and heard a noise in the kitchen thinking it was leaking somewhere i'd missed I went to check and there was a little fuzzy bastard under the sink he made his escape and he's gotten in under the bricks outside and he appears to have nested in the back of my wifes very expensive leather recliner in the conservatory as we normally...used to leave it open for the mutt to go in and out to pee, bark at seagulls, etc  so weve got some poison and the wifes off to find a car boot full of traps.

I think THIS was it - it's called a Bonebridge hearing aid (apologies linking to the Daily Fail, but it's the only mention I can find!)

cheers tankie, traps and poisons down despite one faulty one nearly breaking my fingers...  worst case, we won't have to buy a turkey crown but there may not be enough for butties on boxing day.

we had one under the shed/dog house years ago which the wife who was very pregnabt nearly stood on as it shot out from under the back step!!! she really doesn't like them.

and my dog might be getting the sack, he's a griffon and is meant to be a ratting breed and he's missed the bugger.

I'd be worried about putting down the poison with a dog in the house! But I'm sure you've thought of that.

You can use a humane trap too, but you have to make sure you take it far away as they can travel quite a way apparently.

Grugz

of course, the poisons no where he can get to and in sealed pouches ,if the traps get tripped without catching the rat I will consider the catch em alive route...but so far this morning nothing has been touched.
