Just today to go and while there seems to be a clear leader its not going to take many votes to swing this one so the result isn't as expected when I count up this morning.

And it will be no surprise to anyone who has seen my comments on Outlaw to know I could be the start of any swing back as I'm no fan of the strip and and love the other so this one is a clear win (well for me) for

The Gronk Affair

Very quiet here so if you fancy a vote there is today to get it in before I count up in the morning.

For me, well the Son goes an important job and while it might not have been known at the time provided a beautiful cap end to the story of Johnny Alpha. However my pick

The Schicklgruber Grab

Is just such rip snorting fun. As AlexF say it can be accused of being too knowing, the thing is that is only an issue if it fumbles things and this one does. Its a 70 kids comic fans fantasy. What if 2000ad met Battle and it knows it.

VOTING CLOSED

Not even close as this one goes to

Portrait of a Mutant

The group however, as it goes into the final round... but is the difference in Votes Diff the clue as to how this one will go???

Group 2 Table going into the final round of matches...

                                               Points       Vote Diff
Portrait of a Mutant                6                  20
Incident on Mayger Minor      6                  14
Bad Boys Bust                          0                  -14
The Two-Faced Terror             0                  -20

VOTING CLOSED

There was a moment there when Bad Boys started to look like they could make this close and even, possibly rustle up a surprise. It would have been a big surprise, probably too big to be a possibility and in the end it was a clear win to

Incident in Mayger Minor

And as we'll see this has set up a crunch tie in the final round of matches...

Just read the whole of Red Baron (had only read the first two volumes before now, and it really is a masterpiece. In some ways it does indulge the art a little and the story could feel slight for the three volumes it appears over. However the art is astonish and the use of the pages masterful, as thought he story is slight the atmosphere and dark tension is supreme.

And the art. wow. just WOW. Its stunning. The closest comparison I can think of is George Pratt (who interestingly enough did an Enemy Ace comic for DC), but it cleaner, while not losing a drop of the energy.

Its an absolute wonderful comic and I can't recommend it enough.

Whatever The Two-Face Terror introduced its never going to take out

Portrait of a Mutant

One of the all time classic thrills

Last day on this one so vote today if you fancy and I'll count up in the morning.

Me, well don't get me wrong I really like The Bad Boys Bust but its no

Incident on Mayger Minor

Which clearly takes this one for me.

Another group where the wins of the first round of matches have been kept apart - bit of a theme here, so we’ll see how much we know by the end of second round of matches in Group 4. This one could be decided early (except for the winner) but there are some meat ties here so we’ll see how straightforward this is...

All you need to worry about which is your favourite between:

Traitor to his Kind - more info

Vs

The Moses Incident - more info

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite of these two stories at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early* on the morning of Sunday 26th September and the winner (I’ll count up who gets the most votes basically) gets 3 points towards qualifying… huh…

*Well actually I’m due to be away so this one might be a bit late when it comes to getting the results up… we’ll see…

… there’s a spreadsheet to make following easier… if you fancy. If not, don’t worry just VOTE!!!!

I’ve tried to explain the finals here.

What on Earth is ALL of this?

Why on Tharg’s Earth head are we doing this?

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN!

Oh and my ‘More info’ links… well I don’t say how much more and they get pretty wonky at times!

VOTING CLOSED

This one was close, but in the end there was only one

Top Dog

Can't believe I've not done that before (have I???).

This result sets up an interesting final round of matches. The Group seems to belong to The Killing, the key question is who will get the runner up slot.

                                              Points   Vote Diff
The Killing                                 6                 16
The Doc Quince Case              3                 -6
Top Dog                                     3                 -6
The Kreeler Conspiracy           0                 -4

VOTING CLOSED

Well it wasn't close after Doc Quince got the opening vote it all just went one way and

The Killing

dominated proceedings completely.

The table to see how that leaves things will follow in Game 4 thread...

Tooth and Nail which I still don't get

'Tooth and Nail', I was trying to think of that the other day when trying to remember the better recent 3rillers. Intriguing concept but a slightly confusing resolution IIRC? Didn't Andi Ewington come on the forums here to explain it? Great art by Staz Johnson too. Would still love to see another chapter of this, it was intriguing stuff.

Yeah the basic premise was clear. We're meant to think there's to folks in the story, a hard man and a younger 'accomplice' press ganged into taking out some gang members so the hard man can gain access to the mob boss type. Inh the end its revealed they are one and the same person. What's not clear is whether that due to them always being the same person and the young man being beaten after the mob hit is just the product of the story and deception. OR whether there's some sort of my mystic element with the hard man some how 'absorbing' the young apprentice so he can become him to fool the mob types. There's lots of reference to being hungry, and the hard man having 'eatten already' does that allude to him 'consumning' the innocent teen?

Oh and there's a yappy type dog... I'm not sure what they yappy type dog represents?

It was a fascinating story, just frustrating. As you say great art mind.
