News / Re: 2000 AD Dan Dare reprinted
31 October, 2014, 11:33:28 AM
The bring back Dan Dare campaign worked?

Great news! So great I'm inspired to post on here for the first time since about 2006.

Huge spaceships, weird aliens, spacemen with guns and Gibbons art are reasons for an occasional re-read of early progs. Finally they can be in a trade on the bookshelf.

Have a look on ebuyer.com if around £220 isn't ridiculous.

"everything materially incommen"

Western college educated kids with billions of dollars behind them are fighting stone age mountain dwelling peasants who are rich if they own a goat.

They got nothing in common.

"I wonder who is arming the Afghanis?"

No need to. Grab what ever's lying around, clean it up and you're good to go.

Games / Re: old gameboy dredd game?.........

I've got a copy of that one, it's dire. Repeatative left/right & up/down ladders rescue a few people chained to walls (spot on with the Alien engine comment Radbacker). I think it was the lack of level codes that made me give it up. Seem to remember having to re-start from the very beginning every time you play.

Not a lot of fun, one for the Dredd completist only. If you can hang on a few weeks I'll send you my copy.

31 and 13%, definately unlucky for some since I've ended up living in Kabul. It's enough to kill anyones urge to travel.http://www.world66.com/myworld66/visitedCountries/worldmap?visited=USMXDOBWEGKEMWMUMZNGZATZTNZMZWBEFRDEGRIEITNLPTESUKBHOMQAAEAFMV">

Help! / Re: Travel Tips

Always have US$ in your pocket in small bills. Readily accepted for anything everywhere in the world.

And travel light as possible, there's very little you really need you won't be able to get, where ever you end up.

Not going to go back to the old golden days, there are enough good current artists. Great art makes me read really crap stories.

Simon Davis....the art was the only reason anyone read Black...whatever it was.

Help! / Online comics
22 February, 2007, 08:41:53 AM
Can anyone recommend some online comics and post a link?

Haven't had anything at all for months, can't get any printed matter at all so any other type of read online book site would also be good. Thanks.

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, but right now there's nothing making me go "Grrr". All is chilled in T4E land.

Break up the journey with a stop in the Middle East or India, take as little hand luggage as possible (book, smokes, passport and sunglasses cover most emergencies), always have a few US$ in small bills on you. And enjoy.

Merry christmas all, from Dubai airport where it looks like I'll be spending the day since Kabul is snowbound.

Snow at xmas, who'd have thought.

Ha! A decree absolute. Best money I ever spent.

Possibly a little unseasonal I'll admit, but it does bring home the pleasure that can be found in giving.

"I feel Chris's pain"

Likewise, anyone getting paid in US$ has taken a pay cut recently. Oh for a return to the days of $1-60ish to £1.
