Clint Langley mentioned this forthcoming venture with Pat Mills, while I was having a chinwag with him at the recent SFX Weekender.
It's big screen bound too.

Games / The Conduit Wii
17 December, 2009, 11:18:38 AM
Recently purchased this for the bargain price of £14.99 from Gamestation and if you like your FPS's it really is a must have.
Pretty derivitive storyline, but some fantastic graphics and it works brilliantly with the Wii-mote control.
Perfect little stocking filler for Wii owners.

Film & TV / UFO

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but there's a big budget version of Gerry Anderson's series UFO planned.
I've always prefered Anderson's live action stuff, so Im cautiously optomistic about this.

Events / Star Wars 02 Concert tonight
11 April, 2009, 12:42:38 PM
I know Star Wars is a bit of a dirty word of late, but I'm a sucker for a bit of John Williams. You never know. It might even restore my interest in the once great saga. Anyone else from the board going tonight?

In my continued mission to clear my duplicate back issue stock, please find some new goodies listed on Ebay. The first issue up is one of the infamous Jolly Green giant Progs!
The auction starts this Sunday and I will put some more issues up on that day, including a full run of issues featuring the very first Bolland Judge Death story, plus some Prog's in the early 100's, when 2000ad first merged with Starlord and there was a brief improvement in paper stock!

Happy bidding,

Dweezil.

Books & Comics / Comics/Tori Amos unite.
22 April, 2008, 08:40:54 PM
Interesting news story for anyone interested in the artist Tori Amos. It appears that a book of comic art inspired by her music is soon to be released.
Here's the full news article from Amos' official site-I see Jock's name features in the list of contributors.
If you're out there Jock, care to give us a sneak preview? I may just have to pick this up:

This July the ever-growing relationship between comics and music reaches new heights as Tori Amos and Image Comics release COMIC BOOK TATTOO, a 480-page, full color anthology adapting the themes and ideas behind her songs into a lush volume of sequential art.

"I have been surprised, excited and pleasantly shocked by these comics that are extensions of the songs that I have loved and therefore welcome these amazing stories of pictures and words because they are uncompromisingly inspiring," says Amos. "It shows you thought is a powerful formidable essence and can have a breathtaking domino effect."

To assemble COMIC BOOK TATTOO's diverse roster of talent, Amos worked alongside editor Rantz Hoseley, co-creator behind the upcoming DISPLACED PERSONS and VIX. Together they formed a line up featuring Y: THE LAST MAN's Pia Guerra, Leah Moore, John Reppion David Mack, Hope Larson, Ryan Kelly, Jonathan Hickman, Colleen Doran, Eric Canete, Ted McKeever, Jock, Anthony Johnston, Dame Darcy, Carla Speed McNeil, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Mark Buckingham, Ivan Brandon, C. B. Cebulski and many more, including an introduction by SANDMAN creator Neil Gaiman.

Editor Hoseley added, "While the connections between comics and music have been long established by generations of creators, Comic Book Tattoo is the pure distillation of how these two art forms inspire and feed off of each other across all the classifications, genres and styles of comic storytelling. Like Tori¹s music, these stories run the gamut of human experience, emotion and imagination brought to life by some of the most compelling and innovative creators in the field of comics."

COMIC BOOK TATTOO, a 12" x 12" 480-page anthology, will be in stores July 23rd.

Books & Comics / Garth Ennis quits The Punisher!
20 March, 2008, 03:43:58 PM
Sorry if this news has been posted before, but if not here's some sad news for anyone who has enjoyed Ennis' consistently brilliant run on, what has been for me, an essential comic book.
At least he's going out on a high!
Come Tharg, what about getting Ennis back for a couple of multi-parters?

Press release:

PUNISHER #55

Written by GARTH ENNIS
Penciled by GORAN PARLOV
Cover by TIM BRADSTREET

"VALLEY FORGE, VALLEY FORGE: THE SLAUGHTER OF A U.S. MARINE GARRISON AND THE BIRTH OF THE PUNISHER," PART 1
Garth Ennis concludes his seminal run on PUNISHER -- in style. Thirty-five years ago, the Fifth Cavalry disgorged their troops on an isolated Vietnamese hilltop and was met by a scene of utter devastation. The final body count ran to well over seven-hundred -- almost 200 hundred of them American soldiers. Standing alone amidst the carnage, a sole survivor: Captain Frank Castle, who years later would be known as the most fearsome vigilante to walk the Earth: The Punisher. Now the Punisher is about to face his stiffest test: He's hunted big game in his day, but none as big as this. Five men with unlimited resources. Men who'd put anything between themselves and the Punisher's bullet. Men who know exactly who he is...and how to fight him.
