Prog / Re: Prog 2192 - Bearing Down!

That Shrrrrrrrip in Diaboliks -
I did have to read over the page a couple of times, but I'm pretty sure that what happened is the Mother of Tears* ripped into Jenny Simmons with her claws. What damage she did has yet to become clear but I expect we'll get a visual next Prog.

The Order desperately needs collected editions - but given reactions to the last couple of series I fear it's unliekly to get them. So sad. I do suspect that Kek-W is relying on more readers having a decent knowledge of American and European history c.1300-1800 to help keep the characters and settings in their head. Commendable that he's not talking down to us, but bloody hard keeping track at the same time!

*Can't actually remember which mother/sister this character is. But it's definitely a Dario Argento reference. And boy is Rennie pushing my happy buttons by namechecking a bunch of Italian Horror greats in this series!

I can't argue with Mortis as the coolest look, but I can't vote for him because you've got two others who are the total package:

Death and Fear
-I guess I like teeth and eyes more than skulls.
Also, hurling man-traps at people is so hilariously impractical I'm giving it extra points.

I amused by your intro painting these four as especially evil - which they clearly are - and yet all four have been (or currently are) the godforsaken heroes of their own strips. Nice.

Anyway, L. Romanov and J. Simmons for me, please. It's the wicked grins that knock the other fellas into the panel borders.

If you're going to kill a lot of people, at least make us laugh while you're doing it.

Kano Kano Kano! (because if I say his name three times he gets two extra votes?)
and OG RT.

Brothers in blue forever!

Thrax, man. Still waiting for him to unleash an Occam's razor.

Second place for the star of Hunted, Mr T. General.

My main problem with Barton was always that he's a rugby man, and I'm much more of a cricket man myself.

General / Re: Dredd and police brutality

Great article, and while she doesn't explicitly mention mutants, this is clearly what Arthur Wyatt is getting at in one of his quotes. He makes the point that there are a fair few 'utopian' aspects of Mega City One, including, potentially, a post-racist, post-homophobic and maybe even post-sexist society. Also free energy, weather control, reliable robots (mostly), and above all, access to all the strangest games shows and live sports you could dare to imagine.

Obviously the bit where you get killed by once-per-decade apocalypses, or rampaging punks, or most likely of all sent to prison for petty crimes is a major downside.

On a side note, the thing about the Judges in the world of Dredd is that their origin is as much linked to todays 'judges' as it is to the police. For the moment, certainly in the US, the people on the Supreme Court are still held up as a largely moral force - even Trump's own appointee has voted against him recently! I can't see anyone voting for police forces to take charge of society, but I kind of can imagine people deciding to give our judicial branches a little more executive power...

But no one ever describes Judge Dredd as a futuristic legal drama, it's a cop story through and through.

No love for Holy Moses Tanenbaum or Demi Octavo? Hell, even Red Fang is feeling slighted. (Yes I know, I had my chance to nominate and clearly failed)
But given the list of players, I'm voting for:

Albino
Stickleback

Armitage is his first name; surname Shanks.

He's still getting my vote, as second fiddle to Bridget Kurtis, obvs.

Gosh, quite the quartet this, first time I'd happily give my vote to all of them.

Gonna have to go for Mean Machine as number 1, and Artie 'BURNNNN CLAY, BURRRN!' Gruber as number 2. Once we're bored of Shako turning up in today's Progs, it's Artie Gruber I want to see get another dfrost from the cryo-chamber.

Goddammit people, why are you not voting for the legend that is
BAD JACK KELLER! star of the first ever Prog I read and rightful winner of this entire tournament.

Also Jacob Sardini. (and miffed I didn't think to nominate Agnes 'Laser-Gaze' Bolton for this sub-category)
