I’ve been sidetracked by various other things over the past couple of years but started chipping away at Torque-Armada again over the summer.  The first pic is still as far as I’ve got with the upper section (various additional parts are at various stages) but I decided to focus on the ship feet instead of getting stuck in a rut with the top.  Some of the things I have to figure out are stupidly complex, even something as relatively simple as a big wheel…  Now I’ve at least got a wheel done I can try and build the rest of the foot.  Anyway, assuming my laptop doesn’t melt I’ll try and make occasional progress with this loony thing.

Great work there.  Having just got back into the saddle for 2000AD Lego stuff, I noticed that Stud.io now has a mosaic feature, so you can import any image and easily turn it into a mosaic of any size you want.  I did wonder whether this is what was done for the 'Gaze...' panel - you'd just need to click the button to make the mosaic layout then apply A LOT of plates and patience...  There's no benefit to doing all the donkey work just translating an image to a mosaic manually (unless you're a masochist).  Still, always nice to see 2000AD getting more Lego attention

Fantastic piece and then two more and a quest that started with 2 books (wasn't it) doubled in size to 4 (hasn't it) and must have been a joy to see develop in the flesh is almost done. Just an amazing achievement.

On a tangent was your Felix one of the Looshkins in the recent issue of Phoenix? Ohhh have you got Jamie Smart in there? I can't remember???

Yeah, I started with two 2000AD 35th Anniversary sketchbooks from SDCC that someone gifted me, but after Brett sat on one for over a year I figured I'd need to try and expand the loony scheme a bit just to keep it moving.  Luckily I was able to add two more books but there have still been some lengthy waits involved (the record is four years four months (and counting...)).  Will scan everything when it's all done and dusted and figure out how to make these visible to anyone who wants to peruse them...

No Feliks in the Phoenix (just featured in the Looshkin costume for World Book Day a few years back); still avid readers though!  No Jamie Smart in the books but it would have been a good idea!  There are plenty of gaps in terms of artists but it was never intended to be an open-ended project and I'll be more than happy with how it's turned out in the end.

The updates to this thread have never been very frequent and will hopefully cease altogether before too long (two artists currently in possession and then that’s that; very weird after over a decade of contributions). 

Anyway, yesterday the final contribution in the fourth book I sent out appeared, courtesy of Mark Stafford (whose work I love to bits). Just the first two books to come back and then it’s all over.

Ooh, I've neglected this stuff for too long!  I've been sidetracked by various other things in the last year or so (mainly linocut work) but have been meaning to wheel Torque-Armada out again for another session, plus a few other smaller things I've had in mind.  Just a matter of time and hopefully I'll get something ready for the next Christmas Prog (sad to have dropped the ball and missed the last one but I just didn't have time to devote to this last year).

Sodoshi - love the custom Judge minifig; looking forward to seeing more!

In german the title would translate as 'The Crap' so I guess they did that job for you. (I remember the old chestnut about marketing issues with the Rolls Royce Silver Mist in Germany...)

it really shouldn't be it such gosh damn fun. I mean Shaky Kane's wonderful art holds it all together, it a Big Mac of a comic book, but you know sometimes to fancy chomping down a Big Mac.

I need to get hold of Last Driver; Bulletproof Coffin is great and Monster Truck is also a lot of fun!

I'm currently reading Adam Roberts' The Thing Itself - about 120 pages in and so far I love it (and 2000AD gets a mention early on).

1989 was okay for me, I think.  Finished sixth form, crap A-level grades but somehow good enough to secure my preferred place at Uni, which I deferred for a year so I could go and work in Australia (a love of Mad Max, Walkabout, Tank Girl and Neighbours pushed me in that direction I think).  Cue a year of haphazard but thrilling Prog-chasing in Melbourne - reading Zenith and the Horned God in occasional chunks was frustrating but utterly glorious.  There was a LOT of other stuff going on that year but 2000AD still had to fit in there somehow.

Just finished Adam Roberts' The Real-Town Murders and really enjoyed it; very playful writing and a bit of a page-turner (the only other thing of his I've read is Yellow Blue Tibia but I think I'll have to dig into his other work a bit more now).

Some glorious Full Tilt Boogie action from the marvelous Eduardo Ocaña Alonso...  And this one wraps up one book, which is now back with me after a mere seven years (this all started nearly ten years ago); this book started off in Spain with Carlos and ended up back there with Ed, which was kind of pleasing.  Anyway, I've scanned everything and made a .pdf but I'll figure out how to share all this properly in due course...

I hope your family can appreciate the contents.

Four books in all; I think one is now finished and the other three just have a last page left (all sitting with artists now).  It's been a much longer slog than I envisaged at the beginning; a real labour of love but the support from artists and the affection for 2000AD from everyone involved in this has been abundantly clear.  I'll do a proper wrapping up when it's all over (probably still a fair way off since the pieces emerge when they're ready and I know artists have much better things to do than this).  I've only seen three of the books in person once, at the 40th bash, so we'll all ogle them properly once they're home...

Always nice to have an excuse to revive this thread and here's a joyous piece of Intestinaut goodness from Pye Parr...




Just one page left in this book now.  Two others are full or having the last page worked on and I think the last one might be just about done too.  Once they eventually come home it'll be quite strange, after the ten year journey they've been on.
