Hi,
I borrowed a stack of old 2000AD comics from an old friend a few years back and remember reading a short story in one of them, and I've been battling to track it down I can't remember the name, but I cam describe the story

I did a painting of one of the characters for my final art exam, and the image lingers  my painting's lone gone, as are the borrowed comics, but I would love to have a copy of the original story..

It was not part of an established story line / characters, I remember Nemesis and Strontium Dogs were also in that timeframe if that helps.

The story was of a poker game. At least two players were playing, one in a robe with not much visible, I think the other player was human, and that aliens were outlawed or forbidden. The player in the robe later turns out to be an alien - with long fair hair - I think the narrator describes him as an angel - but we only see this after the human - who has been cheating ( has aces taped under the table or something) accuses the robed figure of cheating. And I think the human character draws a gun.

The alien leaps to his feet, and throws off the robe, and the magnificent shot was of this beautiful male alien, mid way throwing off the robe. The striking part about him was that the pupils of his eyes were almost diamond shaped - like a cat's pupil has two points, his eyes had points vertically, but then horizontally too.

The comic was printed in black and White, and was a short story at the end of an issue..

If you can remember and help mentrack it down - you are a genius

This would have been published pre 1996

The Corinthian

This sounds like the first two pages of 'Dead Man's Hand', the Strontium Dogs story in 2000AD Yearbook 1993.
