General / Anderson PSI Files Vol 3
02 February, 2013, 07:33:17 PM
Guys sorry to torture with yet more requests for advice but in the absence of decent on line reviews whats your take on the attractiveness of the Anderson PSI files vol 3? Bear in mind I only started the prog a year ago and have bought the meg only sporadically since then.

Thanks as always fellas.

Ps Got a dirt cheap Shamballa trade recently and loved it.

General / All ages?
19 September, 2012, 11:34:04 AM
Right as I am effectively an 8 month old newbie I am going to start by apologising if this has all been covered before (I did search and didn't find it as a topic).

Just before I jumped on board 2000AD I saw it get many a tribute on the "Down the Tubes" web-site during the run up to its big 35th anniversary. Several of the commentators remarked that they would like to see it move to a more all ages approach. I was wondering how you grizzled veterans felt about such views. What advantages/disadvantages would that have for the publication? Would it inevitably lose grit and edge? Would end up an anaemic version of past glories? Am I an idiot who needs re-directed to where it has all been previously covered?

General / ABC warriors-what do I need?
05 September, 2012, 08:06:20 PM
Thick newbie needs steering.

Guys ABC Warriors starts in next weeks prog. It is the one strip that I have not invested in trades wise to catch up on back story etc since starting on the prog at Christmas. Are there trades I should buy or is it likely to be something I can pick up with a quick read of wiki or summat?

Thanks folks.

General / Tribute to the Guvnor
31 August, 2012, 10:44:25 PM
When I joined the ranks of 2000AD devotees at Christmas this place gave me a trades reading list the length of my arm and I have nearly worked my way through it.

I have had a blast folks. I genuinely wanted to say thanks for the incredible advice but also to praise my latest trade arrived today-The Guvnor is a blinding read. I love it. I could analyse it to death but i won't. This is a pure gush post. what a fantastic bind of the old and new. Thank you Pat Mills. I am one happy old newbie.

A relative newbie who has bought a load of trades but never come across any instance of the above.

Has he ever wavered and shown any romantic inclination at anytime?

General / Judge Anderson-Jesus syndrome
11 August, 2012, 02:36:51 PM
Guys could you help a relative newbie out and tell him if Jesus syndrome storyline is covered in any of the Anderson collections and if so which one?

If it does feature is it in colour as a matter of interest?

TIA.

Guys as an old newbie who has only been reading the prog since Christmas after an absence of some 30 years, the thought occurred to me as to how 2000AD maintains or seeks to expand its readership base. Since its material can be fairly adult, will the prog shed readers as age consumes us? How will 2000ad attract new young readers?

General / Guys-sorry-more advice sought
27 May, 2012, 08:05:35 PM
Old newbie has been carving a path through all things 2000ad-Stronty Dog, Dredd, Bad Company, Flesh and Low life.

I have not been near Rogue Trooper-I am looking at Fort neuro and re-gene. Recommended? any other stuff I should be picking up?

General / The complete Savage
25 May, 2012, 01:54:03 PM
More daft questions from the old newbie. Is Complete Savage worth picking up folks? It's pricey on-line but would consider if it was recommended.

I can't seem to find a lot of on line reviews.

General / Yet more from an old newbie-Button Man
06 May, 2012, 06:36:14 PM
Guys you have been the best advice wise for this old new guy. After dipping heavily into Dredd and Stronty Dog I now want to ripple outwards. Button Man has caught my eye with some good on-line reviews. Would that be echoed by the crew on here??

Thanks folks. Coming back to 2000AD after a slight break of 30 years has been a great voyage so far based on your sterling advice.

Other Reviews / And yet more from the old newbie
10 April, 2012, 07:12:38 PM
Guys this forum is fantastic in its advice to newbies. Can I start by thanking whoever it was (sorry mate I cannot find your post) who advised me to start my trades approach to Dredd with Origins, Backlash and Mega City Justice-a huge thanks.

Next question-where should I go from here in terms of modern Dredd trades?

Thanks uys for all the advice. Genuinely appreciated.

Another from a lengthening list of stupid questions from an old newbie. Do people normally double up on Tharg's wondrous publications or do they favour one or the other?

Megazine / Dumb question from an old newbie
30 March, 2012, 07:37:32 PM
Guys just started to read 2000AD again after a short break of 30 years and complete disenchantment with superheroes. I am getting the prog but haven't been able to clap eyes on a megazine to give it the once over. Could someone give this idiot an insider's take on it and a steer on why to buy it? I have of course done the internet research bit but value the greta advice I have had already on here on a range of 2000AD related matters.

Thanks in advance.

Guys the newbie/oldie here. Loved 2000AD as a young teenager and then defected to superheroes and now back in the fold after 35 years. I am having a ball spending the wife's money on a rich vein of 2000ad material. I want a relatively new Dredd adventure and like what I read re Judge Dredd Tour of Duty: The Backlash. Can you advise an old fart/neewbie on the merits of it or suggest something else. I want to read something along the lines of dredd moving a bit towards questioning-that sort opf thing.

TIA folks. really appreciate your help.

Welcome to the board / Hello everyone
15 February, 2012, 06:30:17 PM
Hi folks,

Recently registered and just wanted to say hello. I am as old as dirt and hadn't read 2000AD from the 70's after departing down the old familiar lane of American superheros as a teenager. After a life-time of collecting same I have grown disenchanted with the American scene and drifted towards a re-visit with 2000AD only recently. Good grief. I am excited with comics again. I love the anthalogy format, the characters, that old brit comic feel of yesteryear.

All advice re reading avenues fully welcome!!
