From January winner
SKD:
Quote2000 AD's finest meet classic monsters:
Kano as Frankenstein's monster, Durham Red vs Dracula etc etc
So it's time for a MONSTER MASH this February - classical ghouls mashed in with 2000 AD legends - who already have a bit of a history with them to be fair ... who can forget Dredd's werewolf episode f'rinstance...
So either pay tribute to these or conjure up incidents of your own!
Remember there are
PRIZES TO BE WON - one for the winner, one for Tharg's Choice - ! All entries will be featured on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/2000adartcomp) where they are admired and liked by our 454 followers :D There will also be a bonafide 2000 AD droid judging their favourite entry for Droid's Choice....!
Rules for the art comp are these:
- You can enter as many times as you like but bear in mind it will split your vote so it
may not be worth it.
- All entries have to be constructed
specifically for this competition - so nothing you've done for anything else.
YOU HAVE UNTIL THE 22nd OF FEBRUARY WHERE WE SHALL PUNT THE VOTING BALL
Monsters! Lovely!
Who doesn't love a monster mash?! :D
Like the sound of this one! Bring it on.

It's already happened! Can't for the life of me remember anything about it, though.

Good work Albion. Very quick off the mark.
Dirty Frankenstein. "Just like that! Hur hur!"
Sorry! Couldn't resist.
Hi, I know I'm a newbie here and still finding my way around but can someone tell me how you upload pictures on here please
Thanks :)

There was a run of 'Scarlet Apocrypha' - Carlos did a Durham Red/Fiends of the Eastern Front crossover, Mark Harrison did one about an actress who'd played Durham Red (I think), there was a manga version etc.
Hope this works...

oh my that is simply wonderful. Simply wonderful. If something comes along to beat that I can't wait to see it.
Thargferatu!
That is brilliant, Andy!
Cor, you guys don't hang about. Two fantastic entries already....!
Bride of Dredd
tipping the hat to Hammer Horror...

Thanks very much, folks :)
Fantastic artwork, allied72 - so bold and vibrant!
Ha!! Andy - lovely work sir - beautifully rendered.
Thanks Andy, love your entry by the way, fantastic idea
Andy Lambert taking the term 'Thrillsucker' to another level
Great entiries already...will we have TWO unreal art comps in a row? :o
"Psychic Vampire"
Ever wondered what Anderson would look like as a vampire? You'd like to think she saw it coming...
Lovely.Being a vampire would explain her young looks in dark justice.
I like the red colour of her eye(s).
A second entry from me... :)
HA! So like when I said can't wait to see any picture that would have challenged Andy Lambert's entry I did not expect him to do it himself just 3 or 4 days later.
Now its probably time to stop it Andy and give ever other bugger a chance! Just, absolutely stompingly glorious, beautiful, good fun that one.
Well I was going to add the finishing touches to a sketch I've just completed in Photoshop but my scanner has (for no apparent reason) decided to bugger up. It'll have to wait 'til Monday when I can use the scanner at work.
Although how it'll stack up against Mr Lambert's latest offering remains to be seen!

heres my entry: dreddless horseman
(http://i1383.photobucket.com/albums/ah319/Dommi_Kerley/dreddless%20horseman_zpshiggsroy.jpg)
Nice image Dommi. Like the hint of Judge Fire and the uniform.
I'm glad I hadn't seen Andy's Creature vs Klegg before I started this or I don't think I'd have bothered.

Love the Ro-Jaws/Jaws
As this has been pinned to the top, might I suggest pinning up last month's voting thread? That way the art will stay on the front page for longer.
Don't knock it Nic, that's great mate.
I'm new! Here's my entry, hope you like it ...

Flirting on facebook the other day when I caught sight of a Cliff Robertson picture of Devlin Waugh GN and noticed a Medusa amongst his many friends lovers and adversaries. As much as I love these reimaginings, 2000ad is full of classic frighteners too!
Medusa. A real hair-raiser.
Very nice Hoagy ^^
JUDGE PRAGER

Dilworth, the level of detail on that piece of art is unreal.

pencils of Werewolf Dredd VS Dracula, im putting it in now as i dont think i will have time to finish it before the 22nd, hope you guys like it, will endevour to try and ink or colour it
The Curse of Abelard Snazz! Thought it'd be fun to recut an existing (non-horror) character as an overt horror - so I chose something fairly goofy to riff off.
Genius Jimbo!
Aw heck, what an amazing collection of artwork - so much talent!
I came up with a third idea and started work on it but I'm not sure about entering it after seeing this lot...!
That's absolutely amazing Jimbo.
Excellent entries so far, I now feel I'm bringing the standard down. I knew I should have gone with The Mind of Were-Wolfie Smith...

A bit obvious, but any excuse to paint Zombo.....!
Nice work Darren I see what you meant on Facebook! This is shaping up to be another good month with amazing quality of entries again.
This is a fantastic place to be, some incredible stuff here yet again. Z :D
Yay finally done. Was getting a bit worried that someone else may do this if I did not get it done in time. Did get a little nervous as well when Darren Stephens mentioned on FB that he was doing something very similar.
Anyway cracking work by all, I am waiting to see what else gets entered over the next few days! :)

Here's my submission for February's art comp: SlaĆne MacRotten!
(hope it posts ok as had trouble with attaching it)
can't see that - best way to post images is to upload it to an image hosting site such as photobucket (other image hosting sites are available) and then paste their link between the 'insert image' brackets. Your link seems to be back to this forum, but it's showing nowt.

Yup, wot Dan said.
If in doubt, hit {Quote} against a posted image and you'll see the format required. Got a few days to sort it out boniwell :)
Since it's been asked so many times. I used Tinypic, but any image hosting site is the same thing.
Technically you can just highlight "img code" once you've uploaded. Sometimes you want the direct link though for certain sites.

@cfm: no problem. you can consider it my entry for the contest. jk :D
Thought I would try something different for a change and gave digital painting a bash - coloured line art before but never just digitally painted - its a very different beast. This is Dredd vs The Thing done as a mock up cover just for fun. :)
that's brilliant Steven
Dammit, I want to read that now!
This comp is shaping up to be another corker, loads of fantastic entries so far.
Thank you both, and yeah I was thinking what a good read it would be. He's done Alien and Predator so perhaps the Thing could be next?!
That's amazing! Give me a minute to retrieve my jaw from the floor!

nice anderson, has kinda a Nelson Daniel feel to it.

awsome!! thanks
Thanks Podgeman. I've done the best I can with the time I had but it's like the Olympics on here - everyone's superhuman and this is just the place they gather to show their skills. Not so sure I fit into that category mind. Ha ha.
I'm trying to do something for each competition this year as I learn how to use Manga Studio.
Well what I've learned this month is post early, otherwise the standard of entries becomes too intimidating!
Anyway, here is something that started in colour, then got converted to B&W with a filter, and then I nearly through it away in despair but I'm going to keep trying.
If I had the time I would have done the head spider from "The Thing" with the head of Judge Death....that would be awesome....
*threw*
Just managed to get this done in time. Decided to spoof the poster for the Evil Dead, partly as a shortcut to come up with and illustrate an image in time, and partly cos I can't resist a good Dead/Dredd pun!
Okay, here's my third and final go at this month's contest. After seeing the oustanding submissions from everyone taking part, I wasn't going to try a third, but I liked the idea so I eventually started it anyway.
Imagine my dismay to find not one, but TWO brilliant King Kong themed contributions since I started this final piece! Well, anyway - I've started so I'll finish.
This was my first crack at doing some digital colouring... can't say I found it terribly easy, but hopefully I'll get better with practice.
Cheers! :)(http://i1314.photobucket.com/albums/t572/AN-DEE/king-mongrol3_zpsdk25acrs.jpg)

Wow Andy Lambert strikes again, can I really use all three of my votes for the same chap... we'll see.
Mind with competition like that from Mr Leigh S .... another tricky month...
Shakara/Pinhead. The original Hellraiser film is amongst my favourite horror films and although I've never read Shakara (!) he looks like he's all chains and knives aswell. A good monster mash up.

Lovely work Neil and Mimeke even with just the base sketch you've captured some very cool atmosphere and style.
My entry features Judge Anderson having a psychic encounter with Freddy Kruger from Nightmare On Elm Street.
I was sad to hear of the passing of Brett Ewins last week so I decided to draw Anderson in a homage to his distinctive graphic style.
