Great works all around.

I was going to complain that the annotations didn't refer to the progs.  Then I saw the prog list.

Might be worthwhile repeating that info?

I'm really going to enjoy pawing through this at work in the vain hope that I can find anything to add. Excellent work guys - a really nicely put together site.

Is there going to be a section to allow people who have sketches from the series to display them? Also, I have one of the pages from the series just finished, if you want a scan of it.
Title: Re: Caballistics, Inc. Fan-site......
Post by: Funt Solo on 23 July, 2005, 01:00:30 AM
Cheers Byron:  I've added links to the Cabs 'sketches' and 'wallpapers' sections of 2000adonline.

Fan sketches aren't a high priority addition at the moment, so maybe people would be better off submitting them to 2000adonline if they want them to be centrally available.  (I did use one of them for the part of the section on Jenny, though.)

Having said that, I'd love a scan of any artwork from the series (or sketches), as I don't have a scanner, and (as can be seen) have been pilfering what's available to me.  It's hoped that each page will have a different footer image, for example.

That's actually the sketch I got from Mr. Reardon at Bristol that you're using on the Jenny page there. Quite chuffed at that actually (and it was a lovely little sketch).

I'll get scans made of the sketch and the page again and send them over to you. Is there any partiuclar type of file you need them saved as?

I'd love to see someone tackle a Rogue Trooper site with the same dedication...

Well, if anyone does want to try that, I've still got my Rogue story synopses and Nu-Earth encylopaedia kicking around, along with a bundle of hi-res B&W scans.

With the new Rebellion trades, now might be the perfect time to try it?

:: "partiuclar type of file you need them saved as"

No.  I tend to use .jpg on Photoshop.

I really wanted to use those sketches of Nice Jenny and Happy Brand, but I couldn't figure out how to change the green background to whatever I wanted.

Try desaturating the image, then using curves to adjust the contrast/brightness.  Might come out a bit grey, though.

I can write a few simple pages so that Caballistics sketches, etc. on 2000AD Online also appear on the new site. Both sites can access the same database.

Cheers,

Post by: The Amstor Computer on 23 July, 2005, 01:32:20 AM
Nice & simple to do:

-- Change the pic mode to "Grayscale" to shed the green colour

-- Adjust "Levels" to make the background whiter and to make the lines darker.

-- Save!

Great.  Now (give an inch, get asked for a mile), how do I set all the white in the image to any colour I want (because the paintbucket & the magic wand aren't much good in this case)?

Site update:

Inspector Absolam and Billy the Zombie are now in the Associates section.

The Covers section has been replaced with an Art section that has thumb-links to both the covers and also to some convention sketches.

A request has been sent for a site-plug in the tpb, along with a plug-letter to Input.  Time will tell.

Cheers: well spotted.  Changed.

Uhmmmmmmmm...

When does the new series start?

(Everytime I look at the site now, I think "Dear Grud, if I had my time over I'd completely re-design it from the ground up.")

That aside, I think the only stuff that's missing is from the last series.  (Excepting the annotations, which never got past Creepshow, I think.)

Oh, and one of the footer images seems to have been lost during the recent server spring clean.  And I never did get around to advertising the second graphic novel collection (there was one, right?)

With a new series of Caballistics, Inc. on the way, the Cabs fan-site has been given a thorough spring clean.

---

New to the site:
- information from Changelings added for the first time.
- the art section extended to include fan art from boarders Dark Jimbo and bolt-01.

---

Technical guff:
- tested in IE6/7 and Firefox - any oddities from other browsers - please let me know.
- code heavily altered to be more accessible (human/machine) than the last version.  Any suggestions for an improved interface welcome.

---

Request:
- the annotations peter out around the end of Creepshow, so if anyone wants to submit anything, again, feel free.

Sorry to bump my own post, but I just wanted to reinforce that the Cabs fan-site is incredibly spoilerific.  (There's only a single warning, on the home page.)

If you haven't read the strips before, borrow someone's back progs or get a hold of the two collected editions before looking at the site.
