It's that time again when I make a lot of work for myself :D
Please rank your favourite three 2000 AD strips from 2019, from the list below. Your top choice will be awarded three points, your second choice two points and your third choice one point.
There are 21 strips in the running this year. I've taken the list from the strip breakdowns on the 2000 AD shop pages, so please let me know if I've missed anything. As with last year I've not included Dredd - that's because as an ever-present strip with multiple writers I think it would be better off with a story-based vote of its own (feel free to step into the breach!). But if you think it's better that in future Dredd's included with the rest let me know, I'm happy to go with the general consensus!
I haven't included any of the new stories from the current Xmas prog as I think it's better to let them bed in for next year's vote. I have included Finder & Keeper and Full Tilt Boogie from the Regened prog as I guess they're strips in their own right even though they were one-shots. I've lumped the 3rillers and Future Shocks together.
Absalom
Anderson - Psi Division
Brink
Defoe
Fiends Of The Eastern Front
Finder & Keeper
Full Tilt Boogie
Grey Area
Hope
Indigo Prime
Jaegir
Kingmaker
Max Normal
Scarlet Traces
Sinister Dexter
Skip Tracer
Survival Geeks
Tharg's 3rillers
Tharg's Future Shocks
The Fall Of Deadworld
Thistlebone
Important note on voting! So that I can total the votes accurately, please only vote in this format:
1. [Favourite strip - name of strip as in list]
2. [Second favourite strip - name of strip as in list]
3. [Third favourite strip - name of strip as in list]
No reverse orders please as it invites mistakes on my part. Also no joint rankings, thanks.

Can anything break Brink's vice-like grip? Get voting!
My votes:
1. Absalom
2. Hope
3. Full Tilt Boogie
Absalom's final chapter was easily the best thing this year, and Hope massively impressed. In truth a few strips could have nicked third spot - Jaegir, Max Normal, Thistlebone - but Full Tilt Boogie really felt like a breath of fresh air and I can't wait for the full series.
1: Absalom
2: Sinister / Dexter
3: Defoe
1. Thistlebone
2. Brink
3. Jaegir
3rd spot could easily have gone to Hope which was also fantastic.
Also worth noting Absalom doesn't figure on my list as I've not read it yet - I'm waiting on the Ultimate Collection to get me up to date in order to avoid spoilers for the earlier parts of Caballistics.
1. Brink.
2. The Fall of Deadworld.
3. Max Normal.
Third spot hotly contested for me. I could easily have selected Defoe, Grey Area, Survival Geeks, Absalom or Thistlebone. Max just got in ahead because it was so unexpectedly great- and sustained interest over its whole run.
And things would be even tougher if Tammy & Jinty strips were in the running!
Man aside from top spot this is very hard. But here we go and ask me tomorrow and I reserve the right to give you a completely different answer.
1. Brink
2. Max Normal
3. Thistlebone
That Sinister Dexter didn't place is a crime and a mystery. Sooo many really good others as well!
1. Brink
2. Jaegir
3. Max Normal
1. Brink
2. The Fall Of Deadworld
3. Kingmaker
1. Jaegir
2. Kingmaker
3. Hope
This year was quite difficult with Brink, Thistlebone, Scarlet Traces and Absalom could have easily places in the above list.
1. Hope
2. Brink
3. Indigo Prime
I agree that Dredd should have its own poll.

I reckon that top spot in that ine would be a foregone conclusion, but maybe a decent tussle for runners-up.
Here, if no-one else fancies the gig, I'll get a Dredd poll up and running later today.
1. Brink – an ongoing masterpiece
2. Absalom – an excellent conclusion
3. Hope – a big step up in a superb second series
HMs: Fiends; Jaegir; Scarlet Traces; Deadworld.
1. Brink
2. Thistlebone
3. Fiends Of The Eastern Front
Riding high were Deadworld & Absalom. Hoping Full Tilt Boogie turns out well as a series and wasn't just a splurge of interesting ideas with no thought put to if it all worked.
We've had several excellent strips this year but I can only choose three so here we go:
1. Hope
2. The Fall Of Deadworld
3. Indigo Prime
Cheers
1. Brink
2. The Fall of Deadworld
3. Scarlet Traces
Just can't get enough of Brink and so far it would appear an easy winner. Better get voting if you want that to change!
1: Absalom
2:Scarlet Traces
3: Hope.
third place hotly contested by Jaegir.
There was a lot I didn't like tbh, but that's the joy of 2k, obvs Dredd No1 in real life.
1. Fiends of the Eastern Front
2. Max Normal
3. Brink
Hope deserves another go, feel I'm missing something there.
Absalom not quite as magnificent as preceding runs so probably unlucky this time round. Looking forward to Cabbalistics in the Ultimate collection then back in the prog (did I read that somewhere?)

No. Gordon and Dom have their 'Diaboliks' spin-off coming, but Caballistics itself is done.
1 Brink
2 Jaegir
3 Absalom
AS others have mentioned, third place was a hard choice, and funny how a few stories I would not have considered at all are on peoples lists, the joys of an anthology!
1. Brink, so good
2. Absalom, if only there could be more
3. Hope, an excellent second series
Honourable mention: Jaegir, which could easily have made the top 3 with a slightly longer run. It really is very good.
1. Brink
2. Fall of Deadworld
3. Sinister Dexter
This was like last season's Premier League - two equally matched contenders decided on the narrowest of margins (could've gone either way Brian); followed by a confusing and ever changing scramble for third place. Absalom, Scarlet Traces and Indigo Prime all fell at the play-offs.
1. Brink
2. Sinister Dexter
3. Scarlet Traces

Excellent work. I had the grand dream of creating a 2019 readers poll using google forms but never got any further than pruning down the lists.
Think you've missed out two stories, but both of them were single issues so unlikely to trouble the rankings. Rogue Trooper from the Regened Prog and Caballistics from last year's Christmas prog. Apologies if you included that last year but that would seem inconsistent to me.
My rankings for strips:
01. Brink
02. Jaegir
03. Absalom
Not even close for the top spot. If we were including Meg strips then maybe Lawless would have had a chance. The other places were more hotly contested. Jaegir having two outings and the dramatic reversal from its lead did it for me. Hope was bubbling under but ultimately I felt it spilled some of it's interesting mysteries a bit too soon, while Absalom picked up some points for what had come before and Tiernen's incomparable art.

Actually think it's a two way fight between Machine Law and Guatemala.

If you want to go ahead, here's a link to a GSheet with all this year's strip details split out. It includes Meg stories, starts with last year's Christmas issues and ignores this year's: 2019 AD Strips (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13rWvhnMyjPf24t-KLx5w3mGlqBiTiQQSHufmQFevOxo/edit?usp=sharing)
Thanks, Cosh! On it.
1. Brink
2. Kingmaker
3. Grey Area
1. Defoe
2. Thistlebone
3. Brink
Really loved Fall of Deadworld, Indigo Prime and Grey Area as well, but - alas! - only 3 can make the cut.
Defoe wasn't perfect, but the sheer scope of its imagination, and the ambition of SK Moore's art was breathtaking. 2000 AD at its very best.
1. BRINK
2. Absalom
3. Jaegir
These have just been must read stuff for me.
I haven't got on with quite a few stories this year (and even then it was rare that I didn't connect with both art and script) but hey, it's an anthology.
But thanks Tharg and droids, a very enjoyable year which at times had me desperately waiting for every next instalment of every strip.

Yes, spin-off is what I was getting at.
1. Brink
2. Grey Area
3. The Fall of Dead-world
We're still awaiting the final three progs of 2019 here Down Under but Stevie's alphabetically-ordered picks of the year (so far) are:
1) Brink
2) Scarlet Traces
3) Thistlebone
Looks like most of the votes might be in, then. I'll give it a couple more days, try and tot up over the weekend.
1. Brink
2. Absalom
3. Grey Area
1. Brink
2. Grey Area
3. Jaegir
1. Jaegir
2. Kingmaker
3. Brink
Jaegir easily gets my top spot. Lots of great options though, and I'd like to see more Fiends.
1. Full Tilt Boogie
2. Jaegir
3. Thistlebone
And here we go. Was a conclusion ever more forgone...?!
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Total |
Brink | 18 | 2 | 3 | 61 |
Absalom | 3 | 4 | 2 | 19 |
Jaegir | 2 | 4 | 3 | 17 |
Hope | 2 | 1 | 4 | 12 |
The Fall Of Deadworld | | 5 | 1 | 11 |
Thistlebone | 1 | 2 | 3 | 10 |
Kingmaker | | 3 | 1 | 7 |
Grey Area | | 2 | 2 | 6 |
Max Normal | | 2 | 2 | 6 |
Scarlet traces | | 2 | 2 | 6 |
Sinister Dexter | | 2 | 1 | 5 |
Defoe | 1 | | 1 | 4 |
Fiends Of The Eastern Front | 1 | | 1 | 4 |
Full Tilt Boogie | 1 | | 1 | 4 |
Indigo Prime | | | 2 | 2 |
Taking a hat-trick of victories, Brink continues to outscore the opposition by even greater margins - 26 points in 2017, 30 points in 2018 and a ridiculous 42 points here. An impressive conclusion helps Absalom pip Jaegir to second place, and Thistlebone is the highest placed new strip. Will any of 2020's new arrivals be able to unseat Brink from its throne?
Hope my counting has been accurate. Thanks for voting!
Well as we all saw as the votes came in their was only ever going to be one winner but seeing the extent of the winning margin is quite something. Brink gets as many points as the next four stories combined!
The fact that the rest of the field is so cluttered is testiment to both the wonderful diversity of strips in the comic and the wonderful diversity (in terms of opinion I think in the main rock the middle aged white male thing hard!) of you wonderful folks.
Thanks for doing this norton canes, great job.
Well done Blink and well done Canes!
Nice one Norton!
Very interesting to see the spread of positions for various writers: maybe it speaks to the appeal of individual strips rather than 'brand' loyalty. Even Rennie, with very decisive scores for the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, scores Nil Points for his share of Survival Geeks (a strip I really like). Also great to see relatively fresh faces like Guy Adams and T.C. Eglington placing so strongly. All very positive.
I think strips that were in the prog in a given year's early months might suffer a little when it comes to end-of-year voting. When I was compiling the list I'd actually forgotten that Survival Geeks and Skip Tracer were in the prog at the start of 2019 (which is no slight on either of these stories!).
Gah, too late to play along this year. For what it's worth, my votes would've been:
1. Thistlebone
2. Defoe
3. Indigo Prime
-which would've pushed Thistlebone up into the top 3.
I didn't find 2019 to be a stellar year for thrills, to be honest, but there was some lovely, lovely artwork, and that's informed most of my choices here.
Close runner ups for me: Max Normal, Absalom, Survival Geeks and, of course, Brink.
Finally caught up after being months and months behind on progs.
My top 3 for 2019
were Brink, Jaegir and Thistlebone.
with Highly Commended to Scarlet Traces.
Now the plan is to keep up with Progs and Megs from now on!!
