Occam's Razor is suggesting that the first three episodes of Joe Pineapples are being printed in the Xmas prog.

The cold, detached reasoning of a Tin Man.

Yer probably right.

Best line-up in a long, long time.

Has Warwick Fraser-Coombe worked on the Prog / Meg before?
Doesn't ring a bell.

Joe Pineapples: Tin Man by Pat Mills, Simon Bisley & Clint Langley
Interesting. My understanding is that Bisley drew the first two episodes and Langley the rest. Does this mean they'll be publishing multiple episodes in one go, is that just the credits for the whole series?

Could be that Clint was assigned a framing sequence pre-Biz artwork, it would give the series a bit more cohesion.

Lionel Hutz may have a slam dunk on his hands judging by the cover.

- Grice’s melted hand magically heals before reaching Earth

Hard to argue with any of those face palms - except this one.

Grice's hand was physically protected by hate.
HATE.

Presumably Dredd also travels years into the future first, to bring back the next-gen Lawgivers he and the cadets are using in Citadel.

In The Citadel we're explicitly being told a story, rather than watching a flashback - we're 'seeing' events through the filter of Father O'Dow, as he listens to Winterton's reminiscences. A priest is unlikely to have a particularly good eye for judge tech, so of course he's imagining current uniforms and guns, the kind he sees on the streets every day.

I could just about squint and convince myself that the Lawgiver's were MK 1, albeit in the Cornwell Droid's distinct style.

Those covers featuring highly detailed Mk II's however...

Watched em all cause I love this kinda stuff.
I enjoyed 'Graveyard Rats' and 'Autopsy' the most.

Not once out of the 8 intros did I expect Del Toro to successfully waddle over to the Cabinet without keeling over.

Kevin Conroy - what a voice. A truly awesome Batman.

Very sad to hear that.
He will be forever immortalized by the Arkham game series for me.

This list wouldn't even make the Top 10 Cringe CBR Listicles list.

Carlos Pacheco has gone:

RIP Carlos Pacheco, a damn fine comic artist.

Personal favourite runs include his brief collaboration with Warren Ellis on Excalibur and his Liquid! coloured brilliance on X-Men with Joe Kelly.

I'm hoping it doesn't hark back to End of Days too much.

I like my 'End of Days' call-backs as much as I like my 'Awakening Of Angels' call-backs.

Holy modern comics suck Batman!
Is there anything on the shelves these days worth reading?

Yes there is old chum, yes there is; The 'Black Label' Batman books.

I brooded over the following new releases this week:

Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo 1; A Marc Silvestri joint. The artwork is unsurprisingly a scorching 10/10, and the writing is surprisingly decent. I've loved Silvestri for as long as I can remember and would find it difficult to pass on anything he produces, particularly a high profile gig like this. I'm in - issues 2 & 3 pre-ordered.
Riddler Year One 1; This is set in the 2022 "The Batman" movie continuity, and is written by yer man who played The Riddler in the movie - Paul Dano. Surprisingly excellent - and I mean excellent. I'm in for the full run on this one too.
Batman: Beyond The White Knight 7; SGM's third "White Knight" series, and by far the weakest of the three. The script is the Achilles Heel of course - painfully contrived for the entire series. Only one issue left in this run, so I will finish it. Even if this series leaves a sour taste in the mouth I will probably be back for more down the line - the artwork is just too frickin good.
