Oh, the cover! You know, that pencilled version might have looked even more striking, especially given the story's Renaissance theme.

Yes, that cover would be striking and I can see that would have worked

I liked Silo, and, though I'm going to get crucified for it, Big Dave

I forgot about Silo that was not bad at all but not enough to change my mind. Big Dave was the reason for me to stop reading the prog.

This is easy since nothing Millar did for the prog is worthwhile. I do like alot of his stuff outside the prog but that does not count.

Kek-W 5: Millar 0 (if I could I might even given Millar -5)

This has been a very enjoyable read and the whole setup and environment reminds me of the world of Conan and Red Sonja.

The special is divided into 3 stories whereas the first takes off from the previous stories published in the Scream specials.  Alec Worley continues to deliver the script for all the stories.

Art for the first story is again provided by Dani and is also the one that takes up the bulk of the special.  This story basically wraps-up what happened in the previous specials and is written in such away that you do not have to read the previous stories. A lot of action and the story rockets at a Bolt-like pace but still feels does not feels rushed.

The second story is a quick 3 pager and is more of a filler.

The third story continues the story of the Death Man and visuals are provided by Vincenzo Riccardi and script by Doug Graves. The story is not to bad but not the most dynamic and is adequate.

Overall, I liked the special and I can see potential for a series of Black Beth in the prog or even in the meg.  So hopefully we will see more off the characters on display here.

That’ll be the last one too, right? Will be nice to complete the set.

Yes, the final one. Cano wait, with Doomlord this was my favorite strip in the Eagle.

The write-up for the special:

This summer, the world of Judge Dredd explodes with the 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special!

Do not miss this mega summertime storytelling event as characters from different 'Dreddworld' series all crossover into one epic adventure! Plotted by acclaimed writers Michael Carroll and Maura McHugh, this is epic storytelling from the galaxy's greatest comic!

Judge Dredd meets up with Cursed Earth Koburn in 'Biohazard' by Carroll and Ben Willsher, while over in Oz Chopper is a wanted man in 'Dreamgazer' by David Baillie and Tom Foster.

Armitage seeks out Devlin Waugh in Brit-Cit in 'Natural Fern Killer' by Liam Johnson and Robin Smith. Plus Judge Anderson deals with a paranormal threat, by Maura McHugh and Anna Morozova, and Hondo-Cit Judge Inaba has trouble on her turf, courtesy of Karl Stock and Neil Googe!

This is all wrapped-up in 'Apotheosis', by Carroll and McHugh, and drawn by Thought Bubble 2000 AD art competition winner James Newell!

A good solid prog

Dredd – From bad to worse, this is just going to get messier as the tale unfolds. Colin’s art is just awesome, and Wagner knows how to pull you into his imagination. Top Dreddness.

Mechastopheles – A little disappointed with the quick ending of the story, I was getting into and wham it is done.  This was a lovely 4-part story, and everything is setup for a return. Good script and art by the team.

Department K – The “Aliens”-effect into the bowels of the beast. Some interesting new developments as the story continues. Cornwell’s art is the highlight of the story.

Skip Tracer – A surprise return but at least we have a good opener here. The story looks like it can head into some interesting directions.

Chimpsky – The great silly fun continues, and the rollercoaster ride is not over. Top notch fun by the team.
